FF8 freeze (XD dead horse, huh?)

Alrighty, this is my problem. Surprise! it's a new one.

I am using ePSXe 1.6.0 on Linux.

Using the P.E.op.S softX 1.17 video plugin
P.E.Op.S OSS audio 1.9 sound
CD works. played four games before this.

However, I cannot get it to run past the opening cut-scene. I haven't played this game in a little while, but it has remained relatively untouched. It should still be able to read that part, but for whatever reason I cannot get any settings to get it any further than "I am here..." (thats assuming I get it that far) plus the FPS goes "OMG WTF" and goes crazy sometimes in that sequence.

I tried pretty much all the settings that should have any effect. Anyone who has it working would be great. I suppose even your windows settings would at least help.

I am running on an AMD64 (using 32 bits) with nForce 2 chipset and a geForce 4 Go 32MB video card (I am 3d render/acceleration enabled).

Thanks a ton, anyone.

i must admit, you must be a god to be able to run an AMD64 on a 32bit nforce 2 chipset.
