Deadman Wonderland is much too clean. Needs more Gainax, a lot more Gainax.

You mean the art style? ...Or just gore or some other "objectionable material"? Knowing you, I think you're talking about the art... ----------------------------------- Some thoughts on some of the new anime that started: Medaka Box - Seems to be similar to Sket Dance... But with more fanservice and action. Gonna keep watching for now... Mysterious Girlfriend - Weird... But can't say much with only first episode, so I'm gonna keep watching it for now. But seriously, tasting someones drool? What the hell... Acchi Kocchi - This one seems like a slice of life, with some romance in the mix... So far my favourite as I really like Slice of Life, they never let me down! Haiyore! Nyaruko-san - Ctulhu deity decides to take the form of a schoolgirl, fanservice and mindless violence ensues... Can't say much with only one episode, but I'm already disappointed at the Ctulhu turned into aliens part... Blasphemeous! Also, can't say I'm impressed with the monster design, it needs to be more...insane! Upotte!! - One of the shows I've been waiting, just because it's so crazy it becomes awesome! You like schoolgirls? You like guns? Well, this one has guns, that are schoolgirls! . Anyways, it has schoolgirls with guns, even though they are guns themselves... I know, confusing.Saki S2 - Yay, more (implied) nopan schoolgirl mahjong! Okay, the first season wasn't horrible, so I'll most likely watch this one too. ...That's all for now, gonna be back with more after I watch some more to make an actual opinion, I have no idea what to think of Accel World for example!

i started watching an anime series (toradora) after 4+ months w/o watching anime. That video made the anime seem like it could be funny, and then Yeloazn said it was good, so i started watching it. Its indeed good or else I would've dropped it by now. I don't have the time nowadays to watch much anime and stuff, and I've gotten bored with most anime in general, so I'm extra picky nowadays. I know there's a lot of good anime out there I haven't watched, but its very hard to sort the good from the bad; particularly its time-consuming, as I have wasted hours in the past searching for a decent anime to watch next. And you can't really go by what other people have liked, since anime otaku have such distinct tastes, and like different stuff. Also in a way the more otaku the person, the less their standards for what anime they'll watch will be. In the past when I was more of an otaku, I would watch so-so anime to completion. Nowadays I would've dropped or never even tried to watch a huge number of the anime I watched in the past.

Finished Ghost Stories, I really liked this one. It had a perfect balance of horror without getting gory or anything, something you don't see much anymore in horror genre... At times it even had a really nice psychological horror effects, like a doll calling you with phone saying how she wants to play and then announces her present location, creeping closer with each phone call until she finally says she's behind you... It did also copy some stuff like the crawling out of TV from Ringu and stuff but it never really felt too blatant.I'm definetly gonna recommend seeing this one... It's "only" 20 episodes, which feels kinda weird number to me. Also, if you get one with dual audio, use the japanese voices even if you for some incomprehensible reason normally like dubs... As in this case the dub got rescripted or something... Including the clip DinJerr posted earlier, as in the original japanese version she actually says:"Momoko, did you hear anything about the cursed nurse from Mama?" In the dub, she really does say that...whatever it is she's saying.

Don't like any of those animu, so no thanks ![]() I prefer clean anime even if it has dark themes; I don't like the crazy-distorted anime stuff, its like you're watching anime on lsd. I definitely prefer something cleaner like Eureka Seven compared to NGE. that said i haven't watched Deadman Wonderland yet; but i think when I do I'll like it a lot.

If you haven't watched Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann yet then you're missing out though. And if you have but dropped it then know you have to give the show a chance, it goes from being just weird to actually quite epic.

I'd still say it wasn't bad, and I'd propably recommend watching it for some people but personally, I was mostly irritated by it.

Aww, you missed the best parts. The Hyperness is what's good about it. It's brilliant...and I pretty much never say that about a Gainax show.

Finished watching Toradora! The whole anime was enjoyable, and it gets better in the second half. There were some cool fight scenes with the girls which were pretty epic and generally catch you by surprise. The last 3 episodes were really good and dramatic, but i didn't like the direction the last episode took after about half-way through. it would've been better if they stuck with the direction it was taking in the first 5~10 minutes instead; it was going so perfect. Spoiler:
For some reason I had thought there was a second season of the anime the whole time i was watching it, and now I realized there isn't one and I'm a sad panda ![]() I think there's some OVA's i haven't watched, but I think they're essentially just 'filler' type episodes that don't continue from the ending of the anime. Now that Toradora! has got me watching anime again, I think i might try either Deadman Wonderland next, OR another romantic anime with a tsundere female lead. I would really like it if more romantic anime wouldn't save the character's confession of love till the end, and instead do that somewhere in the middle of the series so you could see the character's relationship as a couple in the following episodes. I haven't seen much anime do this; DN Angel is the only one that I can remember that actually does this well. Even though the other part of that anime is pretty silly, the romantic relationship part was done pretty-good. Quote:
i think i dropped it in the episode before the guy supposedly dies, idk. that show seemed super overrated for me, and i think the reason its popular is cuz yoko is hot and there's fanservice scenes. its been related to eureka 7 a lot, but even if it has some similarities, they're pretty different shows. e7 being one of my fav anime, while i dropped gurren lagann. also if radix also dropped it, then i doubt i want to give it another shot.

Radix dropped it at a point where it dips. Basically the show is in 2 parts. And at the part where the first part ends (it builds up satisfyingly to that part) and the 2nd begins there's a very noticeable dip because it seems to start all over again and it kind of seemed as if the show had reached it's peak already but it builds up to awesomeness much faster this time around and ends up much more awesome. And no, it has squat to do with Yoko, at least for me, you know I don't like fan service and you know I hate Gainax (thanks to NGE) and yet this show is still awesome. I won't say it's one of the best ever since it's not all that deep but it's definitely much much better than it at first appears and more importantly much more epic, the fate of the entire universe ends up at stake. You have to basically unhook your brain though and just enjoy the insanity and male machismo. I would MUCH rather watch this than Eureka 7. Also Renton is a wimp compared to Simon (you'll think I'm nuts saying that after having just seen the first few eps but after he recovers from a certain event he becomes much more confident). This isn't touchy feely crap that happens to have some action in it like Eureka 7, this is action in it's purest form.

Was wondering what to watch and decided to rewatch Saki... Because of the second-season/spinoff that's running now. It's always funny when they take something so obscure(at least for people here) and "simple" like mahjong and make it cool looking! And I didn't really remember much about this show, other than the apparent nopan part! And even that mostly because of sankaku...

Some more thoughts about the new animes this season... Shining Hearts - Shiawase no Pan - So far it seems to be kinda harmless fun, although it had such heavy foreshadowing right off the bat when it begins that I think it'll change soon... But at least so far it has been pretty good. Classic fantasy with some harem in the mix, but without fanservice which is a nice suprise for a change... Story seems to revolve around a bakery with a guy and three girls, but it's only just started so I hope they don't ruin it... I just have to point out the similarity to something: For those that don't: Spoiler:

earlier this week i was pretty depressed having finished Toradora, and still wanting to know more of what happened next to all the characters. thats the biggest problem with good anime, i sometimes become too attached to the characters and I get depressed when the anime ends. especially slice-of-life/romance anime. I realized I never gave Toradora! a rating, I think I'll give it 9/10 because I'm a sucker for romance anime which the couples resolve their relationship by the end. The OVA was also good; it was just like a normal extra-episode. If you don't like romance/love-stuff, the series still has good comedy bits in it, especially with the retarded Parrot pet Ryuji owns , but on the whole you have to like romance/love-stuff to enjoy the anime to its fullest.Something else that was interesting, is the character cast was pretty original as far as these school-life anime go. I expected for example the glasses-wearing Kitamura to be the typical generic nerd you find in anime; but he ends up being a popular student (especially with the ladies), and is pretty weird/eccentric. The main character Ryuji also is not a typical ultra-loser protagonist; he's a normal-ish guy but with a thug-like appearance that originally gets people scared of him. Ryuji's mom was also pretty unique; i haven't really seen a parent in an anime like her before. and their retarded parrot pet as I already mentioned was also really funny and original. I do think the inclusion of Ami Kawashima in the story wasn't very significant though. In the end she didn't do much to the main plot of the story. Although I guess its nice they just threw her in there, as you grow to like her throughout the series, even if you hated her at first... I thought Taiga's character was really good; and I think you grow to like her even more by the end. They had a short OVA mini-series titled Toradora! SOS... these episodes sucked and aren't worth watching. The characters were drawn chibi-style and they just argued about which food tasted better. They get a 4/10 rating from me. ---------------------------- Anyways, I had thought about trying deadman wonderland next; but Yeloazn reminded me about Beezlebub. I had watched ~8 eps of that in the past and it was pretty good; now that the anime series is done I'll probably finish it next. Hmm now that I think about it, i have quite a bit of on-going anime that I need to finish watching. I have a few eps of Bakuman season 1 left, and I didn't finish Kimi ni Todoke 2nd season due to the Jap tsunami/earthquake stuff. And damn I think I've been forgetting to update my anime list so I don't remember what else I was watching!?

I liked Toradora! too, but as loveydovey stuff my limit was Kimi ni Todoke. I could barely finish the first season of that, not enough comedy to balance it for me. It started enjoyable enough for me, but by the end I was like: "Aaagh, now I need to play some FPS to get a dosis of violence.". Now watching Eureka Seven and liking it lots.
