I don't do rating but lets see:

Clannad isn't that good on its first season but the second one is epic and more then makes up for any inconvenience you might had with the first, but you gotta know that this show is more about daily life, personally from what i know you ain't exactly into anime so it would be better to leave this show for later, after you got used to anime.

Kanon haven't seen yet, its daily life mostly as well but i heard good things about it, same as with the above i believe its a better watch after you got more used to anime.

Beck is not my type of anime being about a band of male singers... but from what i heard its suppose to be one of the best of its genre.

Canaan its an action anime girl with guns type of show, i did like it and the action is good, don't know how much you'll enjoy it on your end.

Black Lagoon: i'm pretty positive you'll like this one, great action and characters.

Angel Beats: fantastic show and i believe you'd like this one after you get a bit more used to anime.

Baccano! you'll definitely like this show, same as with Black Lagoon.

Summer Wars didn't seen it.

If you want i can make a few suggestion to better ease you in anime besides Black Lagoon and Baccano, i'm quite confident in my recommendation skills :P.

Beck is a really good show, aside from the ending. Don't know how I would rate it since it's such a rare genre (slice of life with a focus on music).
It's not just about a male singer band, it's more about 1 guy's journey to becoming skilled with the guitar and along with that a j-rock star part of which includes being in a band.

It's not just an all-male show either strike, there are females along the way including the sister of Beck's owner (Beck is a really odd looking dog) who aids the main character along the way and who the main character falls for. You really should stop judging a show based on lack of huge tits strike.

Take Initial D for instance, you enjoyed that but all the female characters are merely side characters who don't get anywhere near as much free time as all the male characters. So surely another show with an almost exclusively male cast could also be good.

Hmm... there are various reasons why i stayed away from it, the fact that i don't like usually animes focused mainly on just males or with lack of relationships (that doesn't mean that there can't be exceptions but they are rare, i can only think of two/three atm), still maybe i will give it a try though sometimes (maybe i'll have an initial D type of surprise), since having a romance does make it more appealing.

Not as much as you should stop making up preferences for me or judge my tastes based on just some shows or visuals i liked. But i told you this a thousand times already i don't know why i even keep trying... Also i make very good judgments on what i may or may not like, i only fluked with two shows.

Well it depends Mogi was a side character but she holded some value till the forth stage, there relationship had quite a lot of interesting moments, those where also moments for which i enjoyed the series, not to mention that the scene in where he rushes of to her in stage 3 is my favorite moment in the whole anime.

So I finished watching Occult Academy the other day, It was actually pretty good until the ending which was...meh, I personally did not like it. The one thing that bugged me at times was one of the main character's (Bunmei).
Spoiler:
He was kind of weak through out the whole series then right at the end becomes really strong and dies...that was dissapointing. But that's just me, I would have preferred if her had lived. And I knew that Mikaze was too good to be true lol

I'll just mention the ones I've seen...

Clannad and Kanon are kinda similar(both being KEY animation) they have daily life with comedy but with some very dramatic moments and some supernatural events happening too and a very strong story. Granted I left After Story in the middle, but I think I'll finish it some day... Both series are top notch anyways, they get pretty sad at times though, just a warning. I'd give them both the score 8~9/10... Note that I never give full 10/10.

Black Lagoon... One of the series I might show as an introduction to anime to someone who hasn't seen any. It's an action series but it also has some nice thinking about the life they lead... It also has OVA's named Roberta's Bloodtrail which you have to see after you're done with the series... Note that it's bloody and gruesome, with some extremely sick stuff, though nothing visual. Definetly not for kids. Score would be 8/10.

Angel Beats, this one was suprising... It's kinda similar to Kanon and Clannad, it has comedy but also sad moments and a strong story. It starts out with comedy but gets more serious in the end. I'd give it 8/10.

Baccano, simply EPIC! Very rare timeline to be depicted in anime, 1930's(most of the time at least) with one of the best cast of characters I've seen. It might get kinda confusing at times but it's definetly worth a watch, and a rewatch to make out some things! I'd give it 9.5/10, one of my top 10 anime. I just noticed I need to rewatch this soon...
It also has a, well not really a sequel but kinda connected and it's also similar with it's tendency to jump around the timeline, anime called Durara!!(or DRRR!!). Not as good but if you like Baccano I'd recommend watching it...

That's all I've seen from the list...

The thing is that with Clannad and Angel Beats they also use some anime parodizing elements and if your not used to some of this stuff your going to miss out :P.

I really need to watch Anime again. But I'm having so much fun playing games at the moment XD.
Should probably finish Air Gear since I'd started watching that trying to figure out whether I wanted more or not.

Well, I don't really remember crying for an anime or a movie for that matter...

But I do agree with Strike that Air is propably the one that came closest, although Ef ~A tale of Memories ~ and ~A tale of Melodies~ were pretty sad too.

Other than the sad stuff, I remember when Aria ended it was pretty touching... I don't really know why, I guess it's just because it was such a masterpiece as a whole and the ending wasn't an exception.

Right, if you haven't noticed from my avatar, I rewatched Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko just recently... As the Blu-rays finally came out. And damn that anime has beautiful animation...

Well finished rewatching full metal panic, awesome show is awesome, it has the perfect blend between comedy, action and drama i must say. One of the best animes i've seen from all perspectives. Nice story/plot, excelent quality and visuals, good music arrangements, nice voice acting, its good in every category.

Next up is Ah! My Goddess, starting with the OVA's (the first ones):

Not as good as the series but i'm still enjoying it a lot.

Air ? Yes its a slow starter but it gets good though once it shifts gears, remember its high on drama.
