they released a special ep after the series ended where is strongly suggested that he became a shinigami.

Pan's GT, if you don't count the epilogue of the Buu saga.
IIRC, Death Note's epilogue wasn't in the anime. And even in the manga, it was a bit left to interpretation.

i wasn't aware of the special episode they released. my guess is that special-episode was made to appeal towards what fans wanted to happen.

i did love the alternative ending above. much better than the original ending imo.

yeh i was told it was fanmade when i saw it; but turns out that's the legit alternative ending by the mangaka (which i mentioned in my previous post).

Misa, if memory servers, went to a rooftop building and stared. Some say she committed suicide because of the formula rooftop + not herself = suicide.

Yes. That's what I meant. The special episodes were never in English but in Japanese language.

Those episodes are coined as Episode 33 (Melo and K (forgot the boy's name)) and Episode 34 (the Kira Shinigami ending).

in the anime misa jump off a building and in the manga she jumps off a cliff. in an interview oba said so himself that she committed suicide. she didnt have much time anyway after making so many deals for light.

i thought it was funny how light kept using her and she just did w/e he said to do.
stupid people that can't think for themselves...

btw the writer+artist of death note is the same team that does Bakuman.
and Bakuman has been critiqued by reviewers as being pretty sexist, as the women in the show seem to only be judged based on their beauty and that they aren't fit for jobs other than being voice actors or idols etc..
i think Death Note is even more sexist when you think about it. Pretty much every intelligent person in the anime is a man, and the main female character is pretty stupid and just follows what the man says.
