New Configuration Questions

About 6 months ago I looked into PS2 emulation to see if I could play FFX on my PC, and I was disappointed. Now I try PCSX2 and I am completely thrown back at how much progress has been made.

I am currently working on getting FFX-2 to work. Here is my dilemma.

Im using ZeroGS w/ sse2 (bare minimum settings)
--GSDX9 crashes alot, and has interlace problems.
Im using USA V2.00 BIOS

FFX-2 runs great in certain areas. At the beginning of the game, when im on the deck of the Ragnarok, with t clouds passing by i get <20 FPS, but in other normal areas >60fps with no aritifacts. Sounds works good, battle system works great, menus work great.

The question is with the FMVs. Every combination of ISO load / raw CD read, using every plugin available has the FMVs play (which arent half bad at 15fps but it takes forever)

But when I use PEOPs with the real CD in my drive, and turn on the IOTCL settings, it skips FMVs.

Skipping the FMVs is great.
But the lag during CD loading between scenes and loading dialog is not.

Why does only the PEOPS w/ IOTCL skips FMVS?

Can I skip FMVS using one of the ISO loaders? Then I get best of both worls (no lag on cd spin up)

System for reference is Intel Core 2 Duo w/ nVidia 7600.

P.S. Any tips on how to improve performance in the high detail areas that I get low FPS other thatn hardware upgrade?
