CD-Rom Compatibility

I have problems with the cd drive I own.
I have PD 3.0ghz 512ddr2 ram. and a GEFORCE5750 256 PCI Express.
I also have several other computers running at single core.

Anyway I have an ASUS dvdrom drive and when I try to run the cd the movie play back skips rediculously. Occasionally it will work once perfectly without error but 99.9% it skips like crazy. The game play at highest settings runs perfectly though. I switch out the drives with a dvd burner and it works perfectly on videos sometimes but others skips so bad it quits. Ive tried the same specs on a crappy vaio laptop and the video plays perfect everytime without error. Ive tried switching computers, cards, and drives and am positive its the dvd drive. Also, I have tried switching plugins and or turning things off. If there is some incompatibility with drives please let me know. I like trying to fix problems that make sense, and I cant make sense of it seeing how sometimes it will work but simply resetting the computer or reloading the program will make it not work. Thanks On one more not would having sony components have any impact on gameplay? Thanks

Do you have the same issue with ISOs ? in order to see if it is really the drive which create the problem....
