FFX fps problems

I know this is kinda redundant, but my problem is a bit different. Instead of running 30 fps, which I could tolerate, I am running at 9-12 fps. I have bilinear turned off, and everything set the way that people who run it fine are running it. My specs are:

Pentium 4 2.66 GHz
nVidia 6800 LE
1 GB RAM

That's all you can get with your specifications. Try upgrading them. My suggestion is to get an Intel Core 2 Duo / Athlon 64 X2 CPU and a GeForce 7600 GT graphic card.

That's what I was afraid of. Unfortunately, as I am a student, it's a little hard for me to earn enough, because getting a new processor would require a new motherboard, so I would have to almost start from scratch.

I have a similar CPU. It should be possible overclock to ~3.0Ghz on stock air cooling without reducing your CPU life significantly. I get ~20-25fps in FFX.

All you need to do is up the CPU multiplier on your motherboard a notch or two.
