Onboard Graphics Card
I was wondering if there are any Graphics addons that could work with onboard graphics cards. These cards are built in to Motherboards so they dont have any dedicated rescorces or codeing. I wanted to know this because my only operational pc has an onboard graphics card.

Hello zerofire and welcome to ngemu forums. You posted in the wrong section for your query. It rather belongs to "Hardware discussion".Be mindful where you post next time .Now back on topic.....As far as I know the only way I heard for upgrading an onboard graphics card is to buy a agp or pci express card. I never heard about "graphics addons" for onboard chip and I don't think such a thing exists....

When i said graphics addons i ment an addon/plugin that can be used by pcsx2 and not a hardware addition. I am posting in the correct area as well since i dont want to upgrade the hardware at the time(I already ordered replacement parts for one of my other pc's which is broken. Ups is slow). I am simply asking if there is a plugin that works with a video card of mine. I don't need upgrade tips eather since i am a network admin.

I'm not supposed to know who you are. And there is a little difference between "addons" and "plugins". BTW You can try the "fixed pipeline" option of GSdx9. It is not supposed to use pixel shaders.

Nah, it's cool, he's asking for plugins working with onboard, so it's the perfect place It's a cross subject question. At least it isn't in site feedback and questions. The problem with onboard video is that the chipsets are usually too slow on their own, and that they drain ram and other system resources to sustain themselves. There are onboard chips that have support for all shader commands up to SM3.0, but they cannot do those at a reasonable speed. But like said, your best bet would be trying a plugin that doesn't need pixel shaders, and what I remember from PSX emulation, a software plugin is less demanding of the graphics processor, and uses more CPU power. So you might want to look for a software plugin. Welcome to the forums btw

No, it won't work unless..
It won't work with onboard graphic accelerator. I tried running PSX2 on Intel Extreme 128 MB onboard graphic and it constantly crashes. So I tried it on my high-end rig and it works like a charm. If your laptop supports high-end onboard graphic, then you should be fine. Correction- Intel Extreme Chipset (128 MB memory) will work if you downgrade the pixel shader version from 2.0 to 1.4 ***update*** I only have 512 MB of memory (PC4200 DDR2) on my laptop and I am not sure if that's the sole reason why it's slowing the game down. I will be getting 1 GB of RAM for christmas and see if it will improve my FPS or not. Mmmm.. even if my high-end rig has 1.5 GB of ram, it's still stuttering like my laptop. I don't have a USB controller here so I can't actually get into the game. I only can get into the introductionary scence prior to starting the game. The FPS is pretty bad.. here is my setup: AMD64 3500+ Geforce 7600 GSOC by BFG 512 mB 1.5 GB PC2700 DDR Sound Blaster X-Fi Thats pretty much it.. Zerofrog says, Intel cards wont let him create Hardware device just because of some settings (in his sticky thread) and also says. even if he get it to work with this card, it wont get more than what Gsdx9 can get (although this is not quite true) if I use 3D-Analyze with Pixel Shader Caps or T&L emulated I can run using Kosmos with 10+ than Gsdx9 plugin (but the Textures is corrupt) Although Intel 950GM 128mb card supports PS2.0 and VS1.1 it doesn't support T&L (also the clock speed in laptops is 200mhz unlike desktops 400mhz -=Sux huh=-) I don't know why whats else kosmos needs to run on these cards. Sorry if I revived the thread, I noticed this is old thread after I wrote my post And I am not gonna talk my words back
