ePSXe not working after turning on the PC
Well.. thats the problem i've: when i turn on the PC the ePSXe.exe archive is 202kb (when it was 167kb before turning off), and when i try to run the emulator, it doesn't work, so for now i've the emulator in a DVD and i copy this archive every time from the DVD, but if anyone knows whats the problem, i would be really happy ![]() I've tried too to change the ePSXe.exe properties and making it of "Only read" and disabling the two "advanced properties" that are enabled... so it doesn't work after all... |

ePSXe.exe ain't an archive, it's an executable. It could be a self-extractible archive, you'd still have to use the real exe that's inside. Then it would help to know your system specs

Hello Alfast and welcome to Ngemu forums. Quote:
Is the emulator in a compressed archive? If yes, do you try to run it from it?

The file is small, just copy it to your hard drive. Go download it from the website, unzip that archive, and run it from there.

Well, i'll explais better now: after copying the "emulator" folder that i have in the DVD (burned by me with other things) and if i didn't have before the emu in the hard disc, the emulator runs well (after configuring and all...), the games (the few i have) work correct and seems better impossible. The problem comes when i turn off the PC and later, when i turn on, the ePSXe.exe executable (i told archive before, but yes, thats an executable :P) doesn't work i doubleclick the ePSXeLauncher.exe, it seems it would do something, but it keep as an active process but without doing nothing (it appears in the task manager as active...). After a few tests i've seen what i've told before: the ePSXe.exe that is in the respestive folder of the DVD is 167kb, i copy it to the respective folder of the hard disk (changing the one there was, that was 202kb), and then... the emulator works correctly!!! (with the new, of 167kb) But after this, when i turn off and on the computer... it comes the same problem, the executable (ePSXe.exe) has increased to 202kb again and it doesn't work... So i tried keeping a copy of the executable changing the name of it to make the copy-paste i did easier (without using the DVD, that is a spend of time :P), but the executable WITH the name changed (ex: "ePSXe.exe" changed to "safeePSXe.exe"), after turning off and on the PC...HAS CHANGED to 202kb and after changing the name to "ePSXe.exe" and replacing the one in the respective folder...DOESN'T WORK!! And the last thing i tried is what i said in the first post, trying if windows doesn't change anything, but it makes the same... It seems that is windows (i've Windows XP SP2) who changes the executable... And i don't know what more to try :'( And finally my PC: Intel Duo Core 3'4Ghz Motherboard: Asus P5W DH Deluxe Nvidia Geforce 7900GTX 1Gb Kingston Memory RAM And the hd, cd, ... it doesn't matter for this problem, no? |

It sounds like you got a virus... files aren't supposed to change of size for no reason

what you'll need id Trend's Housecall. Use it, to stay on the safe side. Once your system is clean, consider using either Avast or AVG Free. |

Thanks to all Problem solved :PAfter a few scans i've not found any virus and i've dowloaded the ePSXe from the homepage, and after copying the archives i wanted to save (savegames, bios...), i've played this version and worked ok... including after rebooting the PC And yes, the one i was trying wasn't downloaded from the homepage, but a time ago (in another PC) it runed... and i think the exe change might be done by the launcher it had (to run that version i had to run an "ePSXeLauncher.exe", but with the official version there isn't this launcher, and it runs... so... there might be the problem). Now i can play to my old PSX games ok Thank for all and the (really) fast answers given. See u later (well, usually i don't post much, only when i've some problem or if i see i know the answer to something, but i'll be looking over here
