What version of Mortal Kombat is your favorite?, I purchased Deception for the PS2.

I didn't realise how much I was going to like Mortal Kombat Deception, I really enjoy the arcade portion, as well as the puzzle version and the chess game. I hadn't had such fun since playing Archon on the C64.

I don't have Armaggedon, I have every previous version of Mortal Kombat, including Mortal Kombat *Collector's Edition Deception*, Mortal Kombat 2 & 3 *Midway Arcade Treasures 2*, I had Mortal Kombat 4 for the N64, and have Deadly Alliance for the Gamecube.

I enjoy Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, although there is no real decent port for that game, at least there's MAME, although my PC isn't fast enough to play it in MAME.

So what's your take on Mortal Kombat? Love it or hate it? Is there a version of it you like?

And How is Mortal Kombat Armaggedon, does anyone own it?

Not sticking to the 2D opinions of the rest of you guys, I'd have to say Deception is the better of the 3D ones. I'll give a quick synopsis of the newer MKs:

Deadly Alliance: It started the trend for the next two games, having 3 fighting styles and a good selection of characters. Fatalities are pathetic, and half are retarded.

Deception: Takes Deadly Alliance and adds (a real) Konquest mode. Also, it gives fighters worthy fatalities this time around, as well as the best fatality mode ever: Hara-kiris. The counter attack system is toned down a bit, so it's not quite as easy to beat the crap out of people like in DA.

Armageddon: Has every MK character ever (minus 1). Reduces the fighting styles down to two each, while not adding new combo string. This makes for very little in the ways of combos, and "replaces" it with a generic-for-all characters air combo system. It ends up being just short combos, and for me, a lot more use of special moves. Worse of all, nobody has a unique fatality and instead is replaced by create-a-boring-fatality.

Final verdict: Deception was the best, followed by Deadly Alliance.
The only redeeming feature of Armageddon is that it has all the fighters. Too bad they don't feel all that different from each other.

I disagree. 3D created a new feel for fighting games, yet still felt a little 2D behind the scenes.

Yeah I prefer Deception and Deadly alliance to the other Mortal Kombats, although the "arcade" versions of Mortal Kombat 1, 2, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat are fun, I don't care much for Mortal Kombat 3 or 4...
