I've been surfing on the net yesterday, and I read somewhere that there is an Anime series for Star Ocean?
Is that true?
(I hope I posted into the most suitable thread. )

Well the thread name is correct, the board is not Open discussdion would be a better place for this kind of questions.

There is a Star Ocean anime. It is based on Star Ocean 2's storyline (the Cloud and Rena one) Back when I watched it I hadn't played the game yet, and I found the series to be quite cliched; but now that, some years later, I have finished the game it may be a good idea to look back at this series

Yes, there are 2 series: Star Ocean: The Second Story and Star Ocean EX. But I don't like them.

The one that I played had a half-human, half-robot named Jie Revorse as a final boss. My gameplay was 20 hours
Good RPG, just too short. (I didn't use any walkthru, so my gameplay is absolutely no 100%)

And not to mention how much things between Star Ocean and Tales of Phantasia was so similar, like graphic and music. The menu is almost same in the two games 'cept a few thingies.

You'll be disappointed, since the anime only covers the first disc of SO2.

Star Ocean EX.. ah those memories, it was the first anime (alongside Final Fantasy Unlimited) I ever watched. It didn't feel so stereotypical back then, but nowadays I don't think I would be able to watch it without cringing at the poor attempts at trying to save in animation by shaking still images and such. An interesting story, all right.

I started playing the game recently Have to admit the battle system is pretty hard so... so far I've gotten only to Cross Cave XD

Have you played the first Star Ocean? I did, so the battle system is not so difficult for me. Except the 3D graphics, it is almost the same. I liked that game.

Star Ocean the Second Story was one of the best RPG I've ever played.
I think I played this game about 200 hours. (with Cloud and Reena)
This game is realy great!

Well, I played SO1 and SO3 and Valkyrie Profile before playing Second Story. Because these games have a wonderfully fast-paced battle action compared to the SO2, I was somehow biased and didn't enjoy it that much in terms of battles. Story-wise, on the other hand, it was really the best of the series.

Valkyrie Profile? I didn't know that it's also part of the series.

Of course it isn't. I only brought this up, because it was created by tri-ace, too and its battle speed excels that of SO2 a lot. I'm sorry for making that point mis-understandable.

Well I'm not an anime fan, but I loved Star Ocean 2: The Second Story so I might actually watch it. Though Badaro mentioned that it only covers first disc of SO2 so thats the down side of it. God I love that game. I bought three copies of it because the first two copies were stolen.

Members of Wolfteam who developed Tales of Phantasia went on to form Tri-Ace, who made Star Ocean.

I thought it was a good anime and alot better than some animes i recently watched. The videogame is really good after trying 3 times to complete it. Story in the anime generally follows the anime besides introducing characters with other characters that would've never met.
