Battlefield 2142 Demo

Before you start bickering and complaining about "EA is teh evil" ****, play the demo. If you still hate it, don't start flaming.....instead, post some constructive criticism. Quite frankly, I'm sick of ****ing n00bs making judgments before they even play the game.

I guess all I can say is that the only problem I am having is that it is not detecting my X-Fi card correctly, making it stick in software mode. Joysticks might not even be necessary anymore.....the air assets are pretty easy to fly now.

fixed> had my card in Entertainment Mode....oops

shots are in 1280x960, MAX settings, 4xAA

Ah this game looks nice 8D Thinking about buying it. I'll try the demo first tho.
I have BF2, bought ofcourse, but I got sick of it after 2 days.. waste of money D: I paly it with my friends (who unfortunately have downloaded it, so we can only play it through a virtual LAN over the net).
Hope this game is a great succes!

(I personally didn't buy the game. My mothers fiancé had bought the game, but he is an Americas Army nerd. He loves war FPS games. His former clan were called "Reign in Blood", if you play the game and have heard o them , so he didn't play BF2 for long. He gave me the game, so I'm happy lol XD)

The game detected my X-Fi with no problems, but thats about the only thing it did right, oh and the Buddy list, but, between the "Connection to server lost" that also happens on BF2, now i also have the Connection to main EA servers lost. They didnt fix anything at all that was wrong in BF2. As for the game it self. This isn't a stand alone game, its a BF2 mod, plain and simple, and i've seen mods that had more effort putten into them then this game. Aint gonna buy it.

From what I have seen in your screenshots, the graphics could be done better, at least have blooming or something, this is like the BF2 that I know a feew years back with future weapons. (Since you got the high-end specs, I assume that you have crank up all the settings)

I'd say instead of creating a different game, they should have just created a mod that could be download for free in fileplanet or somethin.....

I had mine cranked up all the way too. The game was good with some of the classed consilidated into 4 simple choices and the various vehicles actuaily dominate infantry and behave like vehicles in a battlefield instead of being nothing more than rocket bait.

Too bad I also have the conncetion lost bug

Nice this I need to try but I'd almost rather wait for my 7900GTO to arrive on monday-tuesday. Well if requirements aren't any higher than for BF2 it would work fine with this 6800GT as well as I can already maintain like avg speed of around 80 fps with sometimes constant 100 fps and sometimes down to 50 - 55 fps with lots of characters in close combat with 1152x864 and maxed quality settings.

That map looks a bit "dirty" imo but perhaps at year 2142 this is how earth will look like . Wonder if there's any fast servers to dl from.

Graphic is decent, but not so much better than Battlefield 2.
Is it only me who think that graphic is so bland ?
Cause I see low-resolution texture everywhere, just look at the ground, building or vehicles, I don't see any sharp texture in theirs.

Maybe it's just a demo, so they can't put a higher-quality texture since it can increase the game size and make it harder to download.

And how about your FPS, Kirby.

I'm sticking to the dmeo, I bought BF2 and realized I only really liked the Gulf of Oman map anyway.

That and about 3 months afterwards my CD key was stolen (it said it was already in use or something), I didn't really care though, stopped playing it.

what i disliked about bf2 was how it was impossible to play normally online, and offline options were crappier than windows 98

although i think this bf looks good, but i wanna learn more about the offline possibilities in this bf release before evaluating to buy it.

I can't relate because I never had any serious problems with BF2 before. But I can understand how bad experiences can change a person's opinion.

I'm surprised no one mentioned UT2004 yet.....I didn't see many changes from UT2003 to constitute calling it an entirely new game, yet people still payed the 50 bucks without any hassle

i agree with that
i didnt like the demo for 2142
bf2 is much better and it'd be much better if they fnking put that jump shoot back

2142 feels so plain didnt like it at all
but liked the neat loading screen and the mech mouse cursor

Well, UT2K4 provided new vehicular combat, and the new onslaught mode. Not to mention that even though I bought ut2k3 and 2k4, I only played 2k3 like 2 times

But you are right, 2k4 is alot like 2k3, so similar that it can be called an expansion pack.

I liked the game, besides some bugs when you´re inside the titan, where dead corpses moves through walls, and we you can the the outside of the ship.
And the player movement is just soooooooo slow, you become forced to use vehicles all the time.

Isn't the game made by Digital Illusions, btw? Sure, they're part of EA now, but they used to be making really cool Pinball games a long long time ago.
I know they did the other Battlefield games, so I'd think they made this one as well....

They did, but under the pression of EA money thursty execs. No way DICE would ever release BF2142 like it is right now unless they were obliged to

so they're just being nice for Criterion (of Burnout fame)? Because those guys are still releasing quality stuff... might help that they mainly develop for consoles, though.
(recently played Burnout 1, by the way - well, I guess everyone has to start somewhere, but wow, did that suck! ..it wasn't until #2 that they actually got good....)

Looks like they pushed back the release for 1 day. I'm seeing advertisements saying 10/18/06 now...

The graphics you posted kirby look absolutely horrible for a next-gen game... if you can even call it that. I gotta say I was expecting more outta this game. Between the dated graphics, ridiculous system requirements, lack of inovation (no destructible environment STILL!) and the bugs I think this is another poor release in what should have been a good series. Battlefield 1942 and mods still own out of all the battlefields.
