Nocturne

If I say survival horror ,what game name you'll think of? Silent hill, Resident evil, Parasite eve, super mario bros 3 of course ( ). Recently claening my room I've found a old game I never installed on my Pc:Nocturne.Decided to try it.and I was very well surprised.

You're the stranger , an agent of a secret governemental agency called Spookhouse.Your mission:eliminate all evil monsters you meet and sometimes look for poweful artefacts.As they say: "The world is a dark place" –"Who will protect the world from darkness ?" – "We will"

For a 1999 game, graphisms aged well(3d characters with sharp precalculated environements).but the most interesting is the interaction with characters(members of spookhouse) and the scenarisation of the game.If you got the occasion to play it don't miss it.And If you already played it meaby it will make you remember this great game:

and you can install it on xp without problems?

Well... you'll need to install the official patch first and activate the win98 compatibility to play it.But after it works well...

i cant really tell what those screenshots look like... it all seems very dark to me,... even blackish.

Yes the game is very dark(the game even ask you to increase luminosity and contrast before playing;and it's better to view them in a dark room) and my computer screen had the contrast and luminosity at its max...sorry can't make better.If you want to see better screenshots go there:

Now, is this game like Myst and games sorta like that, or is it actually like survival horror where you're running from critters or killing them? If I can fight 'em, awesome. I like anything that is like Silent Hill. :P

It's a survival horror as mentioned higher. Less "ambianced" than silent hill but pretty good.
