Help with Star Ocean the 2nd story?

Hi everyone. I am using the latest released version of PSXeven, which I belive is 0.19, and I am having a problem with playing Star Ocean the 2nd Story. Everytime I win a battle the emulator crashes. I am using the BIOS scph1001 with the emulator and this is the first game I've run into a real headache trying to get to run properly. Is there any specific audio or video plugin I should be using to get this game to play without crashing? If so, what settings are best for those particular plugins? I normally use the Eternal SPU plugin for sound and the P.E.Op.S. Soft Driver for video as my plugin. Yet regardless of what I try with settings on those the game always crashes after a battle. I'd appreciate any help anyone would be willing to offer here to get this game working.

I read through all that and I've still yet to be able to solve the issue of this game crashing after every battle.

I'm pretty sure Star Ocean runs well with the non plugin emulator, PSX. Give that a shot, it's a great emulator.
