Half-Loading

I'm attempting to use SSF. I've got version 007 Beta R5 (whatever that means.)

When my game loads it takes me to the screen that the Saturn would normally show without a CD in it.
I click "start application" and the game loads the Sega screen for the game. The screen then shrinks and I'm back at the original screen (ie before the game loads)
FYI: The game is Working Design's Dragon Force...
Plays fine on the actual Saturn (as of 6 months ago)

could be a busted copy as Dragon Force runs fine in SSF.
