... Bugger ...
Whilst fixing up my new 3800+ X2 PC, it seems that I've broke one of the Floppy power pins on my Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro, rendering it dead. Is there any chance this can be repaired by myself, or is my soundcard going to Silicon Heaven with the robots, calculators, toasters and hairdryers? On a more lighter note though: the new PC is good.

you any good at soldering? if so, grab an old floppy drive, unsolder the pins, do the same with the ones on your audigy, solder on the new ones

Sorry to regress back into a n00b-like state, but soldering? What tools would I require for that?

a soldering iron and then you'll need some sort of material to use as an alloy. google for soldering, you'll find like 12 million tutorials. it's tricky, but it's better to try your hand at it instead of just giving up.and just for your own good, not like it matters to this thread, i hope you are pronouncing it correctly

I get paid on Friday, so I'm gonna buy a X-Fi Elite Pro (I was gonna wait until I bought a totally-new PC, but to hell with it.) I might dabble in a bit of soldering later in the year, or I might just get some dude at university to fix my broken soundcard for the purpose of reselling.

Their newest ones were great. I had a Zen Touch which was great until it died. Creative Media Source on the other hand... I think only Sony have made a worse media player than that. BTW my shopping list for Friday: X-Fi Elite Pro, Hiper Type-R Modular PSU, 320gb Hard Drive and 2gb ram. Man, I love having a regular income again.

yeah i heard the really new players are good. i have the Nomad Zen Xtra which is showing its age and man, the drivers suck. i paid 30 bucks for a third party program which works infinitely better.
