Graphics card? The best?

Right now I have ATI Raedon 8500LE PRO 256MB. I don't know if it outdated for PS2 emulators or not. I was hoping someone would know. If my card is old, what is the best graphic card I should think about getting? THANKS!!!

Anyway, you can't run PS2 games with full speed at the moment Your video card is not bad Try to run your games, and post in the PCSX2 section

There is no such thing as an "indate" graphics card for PS2 emulators.

Your card is on cave paintings (if that makes any sense to you). The best graphics cards right now (the last time I checked) are the ATI X1900XTX and the nVidia 7900GTX. But with DX10 coming out ... er ... whenever... I'd wait a while.

And BTW: if you're buying a PC to play emulated PS2 games you're stupid. Go buy a PS2. The last time I checked they're a bit cheaper.

7950 GTX is newest actually :P

but for PS2 emulators you wont notice any difference between a Radeon x800 or Geforce 6200 to the performance on that top card, it relies almost entirely on CPU, your graphics card does very little

An 8500 eh? Probably AGP. If you aren't interested in replacing your entire PC just for a graphics card, maybe check out the last fast AGP cards made, on the ATI side is the X850XT PE AGP. I have it and it's definately very nice. It is a bit loud tho with the massive fan it uses.

i concur thats the next best thing to the x1800 card and its nearly as fast, just no Pixel shader 3 support, which isnt required for emulation

My CPU spec, according to PCSX2, are:

Intel P4 H/T

Speed: 3.02GHz

Features: MMX, SSE, SSE2

RAM: 1528 MB (can and will expand to 4GB)

Is that good enough on the PC end? I hope so, b/c I freaking built it myself, hehehehe. THANKS!!!

Nvidia recently released the 7950 GX2. It's the fastest single(dual cards on 1 pcie 16x slot) card today. Costs pretty high, but prices on some are around $580.

reading May 2006 issue of Maximum PC. the lastest review on graphic card is between the nVidia GeForce 7900GTX vs. ATI Radeon X1900XTX. and of course nVidia won by a nose. to my extend ATI used to be the better one...but after the Dual Crossfire, it went downhill.

like fivefeet stated, the GeForce 7950 GX2 1024MB card is the best right now, but the 7900GTX and X1900XTX are still very nice ones

XFX GeForce 7800 GS Extreme Edition 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/DVI (AGP)

thats probably the best card you will get for AGP

Gainward BLISS GeForce 7800 GS+ is the fastest AGP card (uses the 7900GT core), but is over £300, so is very expensive for an AGP card.

A standard 7800 GS is about £100 cheaper and is a shade faster than a X850XTPE, and has SM3.0 support.
