Unhappy Processors fan doubled speed

My processor fan went crazy here, it was running @3300rpm, now @5700rpm.
What could be it?
I have an ASUS K8N, and i remember it used to run really fast when the boot went on for like 5~10 seconds, then it would go back to normal.
Now is like on throttle all the time.

Your CPU is overheating. Check the heatsink.

Ah, i forget to tell, cool n quiet is not enabled.
Also, the temp wont go higher than 42ºC, the same as always, so thats not the problem.

I noticed that if i put my hand on my PSU´s fan, stoping the hot air from going out of the case, the processor fan speed would just decrease, really weird uh?

I just putted here speedfan, and set it to around 4000rpm, not noisy and temps are good, but it wont auto-set the speed, i have to do it manually everytime it starts, so not a definitive solution...

Tomorrow ill recheck the cooler, any tips are welcome.

It won't be your sensors if they're reporting 42C - that would not give them reason to increase the fan speed. What are your thresholds set at in your BIOS?

Also, why would it be running at 3300 RPM to begin with? Isn't that a little fast? Mine runs at 850 RPM, CPU temp never goes above 40C... and it's a stock fan.

really mine runs at about 3000-4000 all the time, never changes. I think only newer cpus run at 800-900.
