charge ipod with ps2

I was wondering since I turn my computer off at night (a bit to loud) if it would harm my ps2 to charge my ipod over night. I figured it woudln't since the only part that you should worry about with a ps2 is the lazer. Just would like some other's to confirm this or say "no, stop, don't do it!"

Thank you.

What's the laser going to do, eat your ipod? Will be fine charging it off the ps2. Huge waste of electricity though, just get a wall charger.

yeah, i agree with moo. a wall charger isnt that expensive, is it? and doesnt it charge faster with that? so then you can charge the ipod wherever a wall socket may be

i think he is worried about the constant draw of electricity adversely affecting the ability of his ps2's laser to properly function. if this is indeed your concern, i dont know enough about the ps2's internal electric circuit connections nor the power demanded by the ipod charging to tell you if using the usb ports to charge your ipod is safe or not...

No, I'm not worried about the laser for it won't be used. I was just pointing out that it was the most fradgel part of the ps2 and since it wouldn't be use, I won't have to worry about it, I was simply asking if the rest of the ps2 was fine (heat build up and what now). but since you said it was a waist of power, I'll just deal with the computer. it seems to change it fast enough.

Hm, I've tried charging my ipod mini on my slim ps2 and the ps2 shutdown itself with a worrying sound on the power supply.....

Fortunately nothing is damage.... so far

I don't think the usb port of the ps2 has enough power in it to charge an ipod, apple stresses with bold letters everywhere you need a high-powered usb port for it to charge.
