FFVII Acting weird.

I'm trying to play FFVII using an ISO of all three discs but everytime I run one, it plays at super fast speed and only plays the credits. After the credits finish, it just restarts again. Is this just a problem with the ISO or are there some settings that I can change? As you can tell, I'm an emulator noob . Thanks for the replies in advance!

Use Wizard Manager to configure the plugins You have. If You have none, You can get the best ones (Pete plugins for GPU, Eternal plugins for SPU, Pete/Mooby plugins for CDR, and some plugins for input devices) here on NGEmu, just visit the corresponding section (Playstation ---> ePSXe ---> Plugins). In the Wizard, dont forget to turn FPS Limit ON in Pete's plugins, this should fix the "speedy" problem.

Hey, thanks for the speedy reply! I've configured the plugins before playing the ISO and I switched the FPS limit from auto-detect to 200 fps and it still is speedy. It also still runs the credits and Squaresoft logo in loop. I'm starting to think the ISO may be buggy or incomplete. So confused...

Thanks! Is there any way I can find out what format my ISO is? (Sorry for the seemingly basic questions )

::Edit:: I changed the FPS to 50 then 60 but it still does the same thing. I'm getting another ISO at the moment. We'll see how it goes...

the program you made it in will say what format it is making it into.

so what did you make it with? some programs work better than others.

I have a problem with Final Fantasy 7 too.

I have got ePSXe and Pete's plugins for the graphics, sounds and CD-ROM.
The setup tutorial at ePSXe's home page is outdated, so I don't think I have set everything up properly.
My hardware is the following:

GeForce 6800 Ultra Golden Sample.
1 GB RAM.
3,5 GHz.

If I try to play the game with an .iso-file, the screen just gets black, but it starts if I use the "ISO" Mode instead.
Everything is a bit faster than the PC-version, so I figure that I don't use the best settings.
Limiting the FPS to 60 doesn't help. What can I do...?

Bit faster?
Limit the FPS to 50 for PAL or 60 for NTSC game.
This should do it.

Shendo, thank you for the reply, but as I said, limiting the FPS doesn't help.

Hm... you have said that you have a 3,5 Ghz processor...
Is the processor dual core by any chance?

Shendo, it's a normal, single one.
If limiting the FPS would work, how would that solve my issue with the sound?
FPS has nothing to do with sound, does it..?

Fireblaster, thanks! I'll read that.

You sure?
Check your device manager and see if you have two processors.

I noticed that you need to change your setting a little bit:

For Gpu use Pete's OpenGL2 2.8 and set the "Use Fps limit" and Autodetect "Fps/Frame skipping limit".

For sound use Eternal Spu plugin 1.41 - Default settings should work.

For the Cdrom plugin use Mooby2 disk image driver and when you are starting the game press "Run Cd" (Not "Run ISO") but make sure that you have set the Mooby2 cd disk driver as cd plugin.

Dbhankins had the solution. It was a silly one. I didn't enable the "Use FPS limit"-option.
I started the game to see if everything was fine, but there are green things at some places.
Have a look at this screenshot and see if there's anything I can do about it.

Fireblaster, yes, I'm sure that I only have a normal processor.

Shendo, should I use "Use Fps limit" and "Fps/Frame skipping limit"? Will that give me a good FPS automatically?
I tried 60 FPS, but I have a feeling that it's a little bit too fast anyway.

Are there are any settings I should think about? Did I miss other, important settings?
Thanks again for your help!

in Final Fantasy 7, there are a lot of green lines everywhere...

* first, make sure your graphics card has AF turned completely off. if you're using OGL2, AA should be off as well.
* turn off hi-res textures
* change texture filtering, or just turn it off. setting it to 4 or 0 works for most people. you can change the settings in game to see what you like better.
Try this.
If you have any more problems you can read Troubleshooting FAQ.

Almost everything seems to be fine now, but when I enter fights, the sounds slows down a bit.
What is the cause of that?
"make sure your graphics card has AF turned completely off"....
Is that something I need to do in the settings for the graphicscard itself outside ePSXe?

Of course! I will read the FAQ too.

Edit: Turning "Texture filtering" to "0: None" and High-Res textured" to "0: None" or "2: Stretched (filtering needed)" solves the green lines.
Now it's only the sound issue left.
