Final Fantasy 9
I've tried running it on both ePSXe 1.60 and 1.52 and got the same results. I DLed the CD patches into the patches folder and named the first CD patch "SLUS_012.51.ppf". I also selected the corresponding drive in the CD config window. When I try running off the CD, I get a bunch of read errors (does this for all games), goes to a black screen and freezes (with 100% CPU usage). My configuration settings are set to be most compatible and fastest. I DLed images to see if that would work better. When I run off the images I don't get any read errors, but it still goes to the same black screen. How can I get it to work? It'd be preferable if you told me how to get it to run off images so I don't have to run off CD, but either way works. Thanks. |

not only is it illegal to download game images (which NGEmu does not support) you may run into more problems with the downloaded images, that's their nature. anyway, seems like your CD drive and/or your game CDs are messed up. did you read this sticky that's at the top of the forum you posted in? |

Yes, I did read it and I tried everything it suggested, many of which I mentioned in my first post. I also don't see anything wrong with DLing images of a game you already own. The CDs are fine as they work in my PS2 without a problem. My CD-ROM works fine as well. Any other advice?

If it is not a backup of YOUR disc, which you still have to own afterwards, then its illegal. This goes for roms, iso's, bios, anything thats classified as software. Plus its not what you see its whats real, you control perception you control reality... NOT! |

you bought the rights to ONE copy of FF9, not every copy in the universe. by the logic of saying you can download another copy of FF9, you're saying you should be able to walk into a store and take a brand new copy off the shelf. anyway you dont need a CD patch, if you have the NTSC U/C version (which you probably do). there is a good peops CDR plugin config here, and if your computer is good enough you might wanna use those other settings as well. what program are you making the ISO with? |

Oh, and thank you for correcting my opinions. I had no idea that your opinion was the unshakable foundation of truth. My bad...

oh, that's interesting. so let's say, if i believe that it's my right and duty to come to your house, rape your mother, kill your dog, loot everything you own, slash the tires on your car, and then just saunter out, would i be right? would you say it's the truth? how DARE you even have a different opinion than me! how DARE you tell me that my opinion conflicts with morals and the law! how dare you!! |

Basics: If you bought the game, make a homemade ISO of it. Not only is it totally free to do, you also get to control the quality of it (meaning: none of the BS that can infilitrate warez.) Quote:

At any rate, I believe your point (when taken to it's logical end) is that if man is left only to govern himself (and thus ignoring government and laws) chaos will erupt. I do not disagree with you. A government that people support and will follow because they believe it is right must exist. And that government can only exist by those who support and follow it. And those people, in order to subdue chaos, must follow that government's laws, whether they like them or not. I agree, this would be the perfectly orderly world... However, I have seen first hand the horrible corruption and inefficiency that makes up our government. I have seen it time and time again; I have seen too much of it to have faith in our government. It does many good things right, but when I see our government so corrupted, it means very little for me to follow it. So to answer your question, if you believe it is right, then it is right for you. I have a different opinion of what is right...as does everyone else on the planet. We will all disagree on something, and most will agree that there is no universal right or wrong. I don't know what your answer to this is, maybe religion or government. But my answer, as I have faith in neither god nor government, is to follow my own standard. If everyone did this there would be chaos, but there are people like you who still have faith and thus maintain some degree of order. I hope you have found this insightful. If you wish to discuss this further, you may post your SN and IM service here and I will be glad to get back to you.

Industrian: You're right, working with ISO of my CDs would be ideal, and as soon as I get a new Hard Drive (and therefore disk space) I will make ISOs and begin working with those. Thank you to all who have offered advice and help to my problem. It is apreciated.

![]() I'm not joking BTW. Warez sucks. You may think you're getting a good deal (well, games for nothing, etc) but a lot of those sites are pretty f***ed up. One minute you're riding high thinking you've got something for free, the next minute you're spending hours trying to get rid of mssearchnet.exe. Save yourself time and effort (and possibly money) and just rip the game from your own CD. PSX games aren't exactly the most expensive things nowadays either. Hell, I've got almost 300 of them. I think you'll find that the majority of problems caused in ePSXe are caused by dodgy ISO files. If you control the quality of the ISO (as in: you rip it yourself) then there's no need to worry about that. Enjoy your easter.

OK, I'm ready to start making ISOs. You're all talking about the quality of the ISO...what kind of quality do I want? By this do you just mean virus-free? I'm using CloneCD because it's quick and easy. Is this good enough?

Well, I tried to run FF9 with an iso I made with clone CD using the proper custom profile. When the game runs (using the settings in hushypushy's first post of his FF9 thread) I just get the usual black screen and an error, "Missing framebuffer object extension". I lowered the buffer settings and then got the error, "No buffer available."

Thats not a problem with the iso hear on out any problems u have are not iso related, well for now. Go up top somwehre under the resolution settings theres a checkbox for a setting with framebuffer whatever turn that off. BTw as said many times in this forum and I havent tried yet. FF9 has more issues with epsxe 1.6 then 1.5.2

I'm not seeing that checkbox. I'm using Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.8, just FYI. I'm also using 1.5.2. I also set the buffer options to the most compatible settings and still no dice.

Alright my bad, first set render mode to 0, see if that helps if not put it back to where the ff9 config recommends, the other one to try is turn off the check box that says "Use Pixel Shader...." Anyways you can sit there and toggle on and off settings and find a working config in an hour. A coupel of days u can find a nice config. These settings really come down to what your video card supports. If you have onboard dont use ogl2 ever. OGL2 works on cards designed in the past 3 or so years and a little further back depending. If its 5 or more years old id give OGL1 a shot. If its in onboard peops soft or d3d. unless its a gfancy onboard I have an ati radeon onboard at work that i use ogl2 on. Past that youll have to aska round im newer to this scene but ive been at it for a couple of weeks with the help of shendo. |

I'm on a Radeon 9600. Does that support GL2?

when I set render mode to 0, I still get the "No buffer available!" error. When I set it back to 2 and uncheck the "Use Pixel Shader" box, I get the "Missing framebuffer object extension".
