important lesson: backing up stuff from your HD on a regular basis is a good thing
Seriously, I do backup often, so losses are at a minimum when something sucky happens (like for example accidentily throwing your pc out of the window).

This automatically results in the following question:

"have you made your backup today?"

yeah, I'm sometimes lazy in it too, but if the harddisk crashes it's a disaster....

hey, don't make me remember awful memories.. yeah.. i've had harddisk crash a couple of times.. it wasn't pretty.. heck i was so pissed the first time i wanted to trash the whole pc, but there was this utility called tiramisu which thank god was able to salvage most of my files.. but i just never learn i guess, although i'm much more conscious of keeping things on my hd in order now..

well, either backup often, or format every 2 weeks, if you format every 2 weeks, and you have a HD crash, you don't lose anything atrocious to lose

I know a place that does this, though not that often(once a month I think) an Internet cafe near my school. The owner is too paranoid with virii and doesn't know much about computer maintenance just restores an original image of his hardrive.

oops, forgot sarcasm doesn't work well online, what I was saying REALLY was I was having a really bad string of luck with formatting and such, through HD crashes, and virus's, that for about 2 months I was formatting every 2 weeks, kind of pissed me off, oh an also formatted to create a linux partition, and liniux crashed my HD too, and I got to the point where I just have a 10 gig backup partition where I back everything up every so often now.
