Xenogears menu problem

For some reason whenever i try to acess the menu in Xenogears the screen goes all black and the sound slows down and than speeds up. Help would be greatly appreciated here are my specs:

Pete's DX6 D3D Driver 1.76
Texture quality: R8 G8 B8 A8
Hi-Res textures: 0
Texture filtering: 0
Gfx card vram: 0
Use FPS limit: on
Use frame skipping: on
Auto-detect: on
Off-Screen drawing: 3
Advanced blending: 2
Framebuffer textures: 2
Framebuffer access: 0
Special game fixes: 0002, 0400,0800

first of all, pete's plugins have a copy to clipboard option. use that so it will be much clearer to look at your settings.

what are your computer's specs?

It seems that you are running Xenogears off your CD-ROM drive.
Try remastering it as a image and running it.

You should see improvements whenever you access the menu.

You're also using generic Windows drivers. You can get the latest ones here, which were released yesterday . If they don't work right or run slowly, try using some older ones, like the 4x.xx.

maybe reformat your computer while you're at it...

Actually, all you have to do is to either try using opengl2 (which will probably NOT work or work SLOWLY on your computer) or just live with it, as pete's other graphic plugins (except possibly peops, but that one's ugly) do not emulate the menu screen very well, resulting in the black screen.
