epsxe crashing

I'm having a very odd problem using epsxe. It refuses to run Final Fantasy Seven, no matter what I do... Basically 95% of the GUIs I use give me a "ePSXe.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" message, which is XP's version of "illegal operation." The only two that do appear to work, Dr. Hell's GDI and Pete's OpenGL, both give me large graphical errors and intense slow down even on the fastest of settings.

Is it my operating system? My video card? Some setting I haven't done? My bios? I don't know! First I have trouble with FFT and now this. Quite the pickle...

what are your computer's specs? (CPU, graphics card, sound card) if your graphics card is up to it, you can try the OGL2 config here: http://www.ngemu.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45533

if not, there is a great OGL config at www.lordkane.co.uk

you can also try here for a lot more general advice: http://www.ngemu.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65247
