FF 9 ( Big Spoiler don't read if you haven't played through )

I just made my way through for the second time, and while the ending is kind of cool, and that 9.40 minutes something ending movie is very well directed and everything. One question comes to mind, that I didn't think too much about before!

How the %¤#¤¤"¤ do you survive a huge explosion by singing a song, does anyone have any theory at all about it? ( or did I miss something ? )

I barely remember the details (I don't remember that, for instance), only that I liked the ending a lot because it was so completely fairytale

(hope this helps!)

I don't think it's so much the physical aspect of how he did it. Wasn't it just that all the vines or roots or whatever enclosed around the two of them either traping them within or crushing them? I don't remember an explosion.

Anyway, regardless of how he physically did it, I think it's just to emphasize that fact that he had a strong will to survive, and his bond of memories from the rest of his friends is what helped him.

I did not like the ending. Playing the game was a bit of a chore (that’s why it took me so long to finish it) and this was not the reward I was hoping for. It was one of my least favorite endings for one of my least favorite final fantasy games.

If you are wondering, here are the ones I liked the most to least.

(In this order)

Final Fantasy 1 =Liked the most=

Final Fantasy 7 =Very good=

Final Fantasy 4 =It was fun=

Final Fantasy 5 =not as fun=

Final Fantasy 10/10-2 = Nice but not the best=

Final Fantasy 3 =just ok=

Final Fantasy 2 =stretched for time and not that fun=

Final Fantasy 6 =hmmm=

Final Fantasy 9 =...= :xomunch:

Final Fantasy 8 = Liked the least=

(I have not played 11 or 12)

the final fantasy 8 intro has to be the best of the lot, (excluding ff 11 and 12)
but the ending goes to final fantasy 7. brilliant!

I agree with Lord Zedeck’s explanation. Besides, you don’t have to expect a lot of logic from a game where magic exists

And as for rating of FF games, here it goes:

FF6 > FF7 > FF4 > FF9 > FF5 > FF1/2 > FF3 >>> FF8

I haven’t played anything beyond FF9, so I can’t comment on those.

Maybe not but both in games and fantasy books I would like some sort of rules for the world to follow, otherwise have a hard time to like it.

well, after they're trapped inside the roots there's a hell of an explosion it was so loud I almost fell out of my chair It's strange you don't remmember it.

FF9 was to be the last of the "classic" style FF's. Everything about it was fairy-tale like. The thief who becomes a shining hero (alladin), The princess who wants to see more in the world.. (Ariel,..half the disney line up). There was alot of that in this game. The ending was the sameway. The feelings he had for his friends was too much, and the will for him to see Dagger again, helped keep him alive. Magic? Summons? Michael Jackson's defense lawyers? Who knows what protected him. It was a happy ending..

I personally liked FF9. I'd of liked FF8 more if not for the junction system. Otherwise it was a very capable game with a fine story. I do play FFXI and think the story in it would have made a interesting single-player game. It just sucks you have to play each story moment every 2 weeks cause of leveling. (Level grining in FFXI).

FFXII looks to go back to the FFTatics/9 type settings. I'm intrigued to see how it turns out.

Well, magic saved him

I understand your arguments, but I still think that you shouldn't expect that much from a game ending. Games are hardly as coherent as books (even FF9's last boss sucks. Who the hell was that Necron guy, who wasn't mentioned anywhere else in the game?).

ff8 was my most favorite because of the fact i loved the story line. there was much more to it than most would ever think to care about and the game play, yea it could have been very difficult at times but if most ever tried to fully understand it, it was very brilliant in how you could use it to your advantage. i learn more each tiem i play 8 while with other ff games the story is usually almost always handed to you without much thought whiel 8, if you wanted to figure out the finer details you had to really think about it.
