I think you might want to read up on clock domains and rivatuner. All Geforce 6 + series are capable of multiple clock domains but only the Geforce 7 series uses it by default. Also the way the overclocking scales on the Geforce 7 series isnt a per mhz value. Having a 450 core I believe actually scales to 459. The bios only recognises certain clocks and will automatically round them up to the nearest clock domain the bios recognises.

Just got my hands on my New Dell XPS gen 2, its the same as the dell xps m170 except for the 7800gxt graphic card. This baby is the mother of all laptops at the moment. Just want to know which is the best benchmark software to use. I used 3d mark 2005 and i got the score umm dont remember it was above 5159 is that good???. Not to sure though. Thought i'll get some info here.

Here are the details of the scenario it was run under. You can either view the details or just download the SI.XML file results to see the specs and everything

Wow, made the move from my old GeForce FX 5200 to a GeForce 6200, and my popstones score went up by nearly 2.5 times. The old score was 10214. With this new card I scored 24696. Very nice indeed.

5200 to a 6200? Not much of an upgrade really. Popstones aren't a good basis to go by.

Finally got my memory's problems sorted out so I pushed it to 265 MHz . With my CPU running at 265x10 and the video card running at 500/1300 or so, I finally broke 30,000 in 3DMark 2001 . I haven't tried anything else all the way through since the overclock though so I don't know how much 2003/2005 would benefit from it but with the card at the above speeds, I got blue and white snow artifacts on the second test of 2005 . I let the drivers automatically overclock the card after that and it ended up setting it to 490/1270. No problems so far.

So.. updates with 3dmark06.. first score is my SLI Rig. I havent overclocked anything though. Still my basic 430/1200 7800GTX card ((which are slower than most 7800GTX cards)) and AMD 64 3800+ CPU. Though a Dual Core may be in my future if UT2007 makes a difference with it. But this CPU has been treating me well.

Other is my AX 2500+ rig with a 6800GT. Also stock. But that PC is starting to show its age. Its basically my chat setup computer but its still able to run 3dmark06 and of course play EQ 2 which is all I want from it

My system took quite a beating on 3dmark06. I think i got around 2700 something on my laptop. Do you think upgrading to a 7800 gxt from a 6800 ultra would do any good. How about I add another gig of ram to make it 2 gig and upgrade the processor to a 2.26 from a 2.13. Hardrive is already 7200 rpm so dont think i can do anything about it. Any suggestions.

My 3DMark 06 score.. not to shabby for a 6800GS.. the graphics tests are absolutely breathtaking. I thought the original Canyon Flight couldn't get any better.. sheesh, it's incredible.

I think 5200 to 6200 is good.You know a FX 5200 can't run a lot of DX9 even at 640x480 .With 6200 i can run every game at 800x600 . Beside 6200 is very cheap (60 $ half of 6600's price ) So i don't know why people complain about 6200

It does what I need it to, so I can't complain. Also got mine for $40.

well your right Chu but ive bought my laptop around 5 months back so nothing much i can do about it and then again it fullfills all my gaming needs quite well so I dont have any regrets. I guess the optimizations that i have in mind might be able to help me push a bit further. Lets see if its reasonable for me to go through the process.

I'll be benching again when my A8N32 SLI Deluxe arrives monday. Cant wait for that sexy board. I also picked up 2 gigs of Corsair memory. So gotta get some system upgrades done first..

You can consider me a 100% AMD-o-Phile now (last AMD CPU I owned was a 1.2GHz Athlon T-bird). Well, after spending quality time with it, I really love this CPU. It's faster than my P4 in gaming and FPU intensive applications by a huge amount (aside from Dolphin, which I knew loved Netburst a long time ago), a lot more than I expected. I miss HT, and have noticed it being gone, but I'm really satisfied. I'm really loving this 6800GS too, but I expected a big leap from my 9800 Pro.
