Seta-San

Over the past several years, I think it’s been about seven for me, I’ve been a constant member of the emulation community. I remember I initially started because someone in a local little league told me that you could play Nintendo games for free on your computer. At the time I didn’t even have the internet but I eventually was able to talk down my mother to getting a free month subscription to Compuserve which was a fair dialup service.

I spent the next long while getting to know the internet. I found emulators and ROMs around on some separate sites and such. I eventually got hard wind of UltraHLE, at a time I loved N64. I remember waiting forever for the next release (it wasn’t the last time I’d do that). I got around to learning about IRC on the contact section of the main page and got around to some newbish behavior messing with Jandaman. Back then I was known as “anime1973”. The story with that name was I was making a new screenname in compuserve and typed in “anime” as the screen name and I chose 1973 as my DoB to get by the parental locks. It came up with “anime” already being taken and it gave a bunch of recommendations, among them “anime1973”. Eventually it kind of calmed down after Realityman said he quit but I did find a little niche with emulation64 during that time. My time there was fun for most the time until the very end but in the meantime I got to be a news poster and somewhat of an admin at Emupound with natedogg and bonezmakjonez. It was fun but we realized that we were going nowhere with the site and we all decided it was time to call it quits.

I eventually quit hanging at emulation64 for two reasons 1) the posts were almost exclusively Nintendo related 2) the forums and IRC moderators indiscriminately kick/banned whoever they wanted and I just happened to be the guy Passive liked to do this to. I changed my screenname to Seta-San after we switched ISPs but didn’t manage to get in under his radar so I moved over to psxemu.com and found a much friendlier crowd. Eventually psxemu became ngemu but it was still good. I made some incredible friends along the way. I got involved heavily with PS2 emulation and devoted almost, if not more than $1200 to PCSX2 in the form of modchips/pl2301 cords/beta testing equipment, hardware and donations. I can’t say I regretted spending a dime of that money though as the project is starting to bear fruit. But recently, like an over ripened fruit, the ngemu community started to “grow up” and everyone has, and will continue to become more political making the funness of the page dissipate into flame wars on politics, morals, and ethics.

I suppose being banned was fair to the rules and I still have no regrets. There was no warnings given and it seemed to me that everyone just wanted me to leave. In all honesty I was planning on leaving soon to gather up a reallife anyway. But all you guys really needed to do was to ask me to leave. I could have probably gotten in and continued posting under the name “MetroWizard” and claimed to be someone other than myself if i really wanted to. The motivations for everyone wanting me gone, thus banning me? I’m guessing it was because I was aggressive in standing my ground on my political/social/ethical positions which are unpopular on the boards and IRC. In the end, none of this really matters in real life. I can’t write on a resume that I spent seven years studying hardware architecture at some website. I am moving on with my life after all this as I’ve been moving on with a lot of things recently. I’ll always hold the good times I’ve had with the community close to my heart. I never really hated or disliked anyone here, though I have been confused to heck by some of you. I hope to still be able to pop in from time to time for what ever reason.

--Yours,

Steven Bruce (Seta-San)

Seta-San? I`m sorry to hear that you`re leaving. Even if you where a little annoying sometimes, you were still part of the forum, and overall, you weren`t at all bad or annoying. Maybe you would say that I don`t know you pretty well, but I saw how you helped people in the epsxe and pcsx2 forum, and you we`re really nice and helpfull to them.I`m sorry to hear another member leaving. I hope you`ll reconsider and stay here with us.
If you`re still leaving, I wish you good luck in your life.
Good Bye Seta-San!

It's too bad you're leaving Seta-San ( well, what choice do you have, getting banned right ?), it can be refreshing to see someone state their opinion clearly, even if your rudeness might have been a little too much for some people sometimes. Besides you had a cool avatar.

BTW Is that post really you?, that language is completely different from your usual posts :O

Seta's gone as well, now who am I supposed to observe arguing?
I guess I will be gone as well until someone can have an argument as good as one between Seta and Boltz

Don`t worry, I`ll take Seta`s place, as I seem to argue with Boltz quite often (j/k).
Welcome back DarkAurora (I didn`t know admins had vacations too, I thought they worked non-stop).

P.S.: What happened to the mods? Seems like everyone took a "vacation" at the same time. Well, glad to know they`re back (cause if they didn`t the newbs could have probably taken over the forum )
