need recommendations for a PSX RPG to play
ok, well as the title says i've played a lot of RPGs and i just want more to play, i love PSX RPGs so thats where i need good titles, anyway here's my list of already played PSX RPGs, feel free to recommend on another systems (as long as not ps2/gamecube/xbox as i dont have those systems mostly by interest lost in the consoles world...) Alundra 2 Arc The Lad Arc The Lad 2 Arc The Lad 3 Chrono Cross Final Fantasy VII Final Fantasy VIII Final Fantasy IX Final Fanatsy Chronicles Final Fantasy Anthology Final Fantasy Origins Gauntlet Legends Lunar Lunar 2 Parasite Eve Parasite Eve II Tales of Destiny II The Legend of Dragoon Threads of Fate Valkyrie Profile Vagrant Story Wild Arms 2 I have Star Ocean: the Second Story and Xenogears in my "to play list" but dunno... not really interested in playing those 2 You know it is quite funny, searching on my old CD boxes I found Wild Arms, Suikoden, Breath of Fire IV and Legend of Legaia and i dont remember having bought them or even seen 'em however im impressed i havent played Legaia yet So anyway i guess i can start with those and try to buy or whatever other ones later, or just start with other and letting this to the finish or whateevr. anyway, hoping to see many recomendations

Suikoden I + II are both great games, although I haven't beaten the second one yet

Legend of Legia was won of my FAVORITE RPG's on PSX, though I think there was some problem with emulating, but I can't remember, I'll have to look it up, it was posted here somewhere.

I really didnt like Legend of Legia but hey you might like it. I thought story was really dry. I would really recommend Xenogears but seeing you dont really want to play it then i cant really think of anything else. Seems you played all of the rpgs i know of. What about Breathe of Fire 3? I played it and it was fun but never finished b/c i got stucked in one area.

seems liek you dont like Tactics games, otherwise you'd have FF tactics or Vandal Hearts up there ![]() my friend told me Thousand Arms was awesome, i havent played it yet though. they had it at Gamestop the other day for 25 bucks so i ran to the cash register and they didnt actually have the disc behind the counter. just the case sitting out there

Grandia is good. Front Mission 3 and Tactics Ogre if you like strategy rpg's. Lunar Silver Star Story and Lunar 2 are great rpg's also IMO. btw give Xenogears a shot and you wont be disappointed. |

Gauntlet's an RPG? Anyways... if it's by Square, don't play it. It probably sucks. Get Lunar 1 & 2 for the Sega CD and play that. |

talbain. i think your brain is broken. square enix makes the best RPGs. and he asked for PSX not SegaCD and of course Square ruled on the PSX.

No, Talbain is just blind because Lunar 1 & 2 are on the guy's list. I recommend Thousand Arms, Tales of Destiny 1, Rhapsody and Suikoden ![]() Oh and you have to play Star Ocean 2, it's incredibly fun!! |

let me also join into this childish game of "no! you don't have a brain!" by saying this: if you don't respect the opinions of others, you, sir, are the one without a brain (i thoroughly enjoyed both Parasite Eves, Chrono Cross, AND FF8 and 9.)

I fail to see how dungeon crawling action with pretty much no plot (if any at all) can make a game "one of the best console RPGs ever" but I guess not everyone has the same level of standards for quality. |

its not he, and is not a guy, and... how come nobody knows me anymore... whatever anyway, indeed not tactics games, tried front mission 3 once but, oh my god i got so bored after 5 mins or so, i still have the cd here but i dont consider an RPG ![]() i dont get what was the whole "you lack a brain" thing, but oookay i lack one then, i enjoyed FFVIII and Chrono Cross very much heheh anyway(yeah again) then so far the ones to get are Suikoden II, Breath of Fire III, Thousan Arms (ill have to take a look somewhere first i think), Grandia (ohh yes i frogot it was on my to play list), Tales of destiny 1, Rhapsody (never heard of) BTW, Parasite Eve II was not an RPG was it???

Edit: btw I suggest you try Saga Frontier 2, it's not one of the best but it's quite enjoyable nevertheless. It has a great battle engine and the story is quite good (although it takes a bit of time to catch up as how the plot flows). |

Yeah Saga Frontier 1&2 are really awesome. Beyond the Beyond is also a cool original PS RPG.

Eheh. I didn't say all of them sucked, and I didn't even qualify why I thought so or which games I thought sucked. I'm willing to bet that if I said I hated Final Fantasy VII (and I do, it was a terrible game), there'd be a load of fanboys down my throat. But I do have reasons, I simply don't wish to spend an endless amount of time divulging my opinion to a bunch of people who won't listen anyways. If you're all that interested in why I hate certain games, or which games I like, and why, feel free to ask and I'll tell you. Otherwise, a general statement will do because it does state my sentiment towards Squaresoft. Also, Lady, Front Mission 3 is an absolutely atrocious tactics game. Play something like Ogre Battle 64 if you want an example of a good tactics game. |
