Half-Life

i did a search and was surprised that there has only been ONE half life screenshots thread. rather than revive that thread (which only has ONE screenshot in it mind you) i figured i'd make my own. i just beat HL2 and i decided that since i never quite finished HL (played it for a while back in the day though), i might as well have a go at it now.

16xAA, 16xAF, High Quality mode, 1152x864.

these are all from the very first chapter, i got to the second chapter and saved and quit

hopefully more to come as i keep my commitment to keep playing this game.

Isn't there some FPS limit option? On the other hand, back in the day HF did need some good hardware...

Yes the HD pack gives you better models and effects (for all three original half life games) but the source port of half life 1 has no HD pack support. Thats dim-witted

yeah there is.

go to the console and type fps_max [number] , that controls the max FPS. however, by default it's limited to 100 (no matter if you put fps_max 34593475345) sooooo you go to the console and put developer 1 and the sky's the limit and yeah i was just joking about the "under 200" fps thing

by the way...i looked at your profile and you're from the UK. would you happen to be THE norbi-from-england-diabolo-extraordinaire, by any chance...?

no, i wish i only know one person with Blue Shift and he lost the game a long time ago. and since Valve wont officially support BS (heh ironic initials) because it's by a third party company, you cant get it on steam either. i wonder if it's legal to download the hi-res pack....probably not.

go for it man! i already have an Unreal Tournament thread floating around. old game screenshots are great, especially when you max out all the settings and resolution and are still playing it 50 times faster than you used to

three original HL games? do you mean HL, opfor, BS?

anyway, check out my legit HL games can you make steam accounts out of opfor CD keys? i've already done it for my HL2, HL, and CS ones... if i can use the opfor CD keys that means ill have 5 steam accounts

you can't play BS through steam because it uses a different/modified engine, almost everything on steam is third party including opposing force which was developed by gearbox.

and you can't use OF cd-key to activate steam, that's why it is already available if you put the original HL cd-key. and besides why do you want 5 accounts? o.O all my HL is under only one.

well i have 3 accounts right now on 3 of my email addresses:

yahoo: first steam account. i usually let my friends use this one if they want to play CS. i got banned from my favorite server on CS
sbcglobal: my "main" steam account that i used a lot. used it until i got HL2.
gmail: HL2 silver....meaning i have all the games. cool ****.

anyway, i have so many just so i can play CS with my friends. some of them dont have steam accounts. sharing is caring

oh yeah. more screenshots

not much interest in this thread

oh well, i still love half life and ill post shots until i beat the damn game.

some parts of this game still blow me away. i remember how in AWE i was back playing this at 800x600 in (omg) HW rendering mode on my friend's l33t Pentium II. scenes like the big green toxic room (below) and when you have to put the fire on the tentacle thing always take me back. gotta love nostalgia

Hmm… if I remember correctly it was a free download once. (Just a year or two ago I saw it on the company website.) You should try to find it.

One of Half-Life: Blue Shift's biggest selling points has to be the "High Definition Pack", a graphics upgrade for Half-Life, which adds visually enhanced player and weapon models. The models, and their respective animations, contain double the amount of polygons over their original versions -- and best of all, it'll also upgrade all the weapons and models in Half-Life and Opposing Force too!
man that sounds awesome. i recall seeing this albeit only briefly. ill try to search around the internet to see if i can get it...

I made an archive of the HD pack and I'll put it somewhere if I won't get in trouble for it. In the mean time here is a security guard with the HD pack.
