AVG 7.0 free edition

get it here

The major improvement I've seen is that it has stopped complaining about files that weren't actually viruses

I really liked this software, especially 6.0; it uses a lot less resources than my Norton 2003 and seems to be much faster too. 7.0 seems to suck up a bit more juice but still plenty fast. And best of all, it's FREE.

Avast has always been my favorite. AVG has only became good recently, so that is kinda throwing me off

Ill say its alright. Ive been using it for about a year now and i havent had any problems. It also doesnt seem like it uses any more resources then the old ver. My only problem with AVG is that they dont have a very good virus database (like symantec). I just use www.sarc.com instead.

Well I never tried the 7.0 versions yet. My Windows installation is almost destroyed right now, so I guess it couldn't hurt
