Win2k and geforce, too Dark!

Ok, more Win2K question

My sys: W2K, GF2MX with 21.81

But these games:
Quake3Arena, Operation Flashpoint, Independence War 2, and some other just too dark when I set to 1024x768

what happened? Other res works fine. But the GF2MX is not thst strong to handle 1280 x 1024.

So any solution? I try to avoid 800 x 600, because in Independence War 2, the HUD filled the cockpit with that res
