Pokemon Problem: "The 1-M Circuit Board is not Installed" ????

Hey,

Sorry to bother everyone with this, but I was playing the ROM for Pokemon Fire Red (VBA 1.7.2) and noticed that error when starting the game. The game itself runs ok until you beat the elite 4... but since you can't make an in-game save, it starts over at that point and I can't finish the rest of the game.

When the game first starts, you get this message:

"The 1-M Circuit Board is not Installed"

If you actually try to save the game with the in-game save option, it says "Save error. Please exchange the backup memory"

The normal File ==> Save File options work fine, but the in-game save appears to be necessary to continue after the elite 4 (about 1/2 way through the game).

If anyone else has noticed this problem, or has any ideas on how to correct it, please let me know...

Thanks in advance,

Jim

Well, you really shouldn't be talking about roms, as the U.S release is not even in stores yet (kinda makes ya wonder how it got on the internet so quickly, huh???), but all you need to do is go to Options>Emulator>Save Type and choose 128k

Hey, thanks for that... but it doesn't work. I set it to 128K as you suggested, but there was no change at all...

Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Well...

Hey again...

After further experimentation, I have found that the fix you gave actually DOES work... so thanks! I just have to start the entire game over...

Jim

ps. The old game saves I had BEFORE the fix still give the memory error. And since I played all the way to the elite 4 with those... I guess I have to start the entire game over.

Unless someone knows anything about fixing save game files???

Have you tried this? Start your old game and load your most recent VBA save, then go file->export->gameshark snapshot. Now start a new game, and go file->import->gameshark snapshot and import that save you just made. That -should- work.

Find an IPS save patch for Pokemon Fire Red, then download an IPS patcher and patch the file, I think you have to start a new game, I'm NOT SURE so might as well try this so you can keep your old game. good IPS patcher is IPS-win 2.0 found here http://www.zophar.net/utilities/patchutil.html

Read the instructions above, you don't need to download any fix... just change the memory to 128k, delete the existing savefile and start from 0, that fixes everything.

The fix works great... I haven't tried the instructions above because I already used the fix, and it lets you save it fine and everything.... but okay if that also works I guess you can that too...

You somehow managed to find your way to this thread, which BTW ANSWERS YOUR QUESTION, but yet, you don't actually read the thread, you just post the same question again????

i agree, but by posting this im kinda going against it unintensionally, anyway when playing a game, i dont get that error, but like it, it goes back to the start a new game screen when i try to do a certain thing

in summon night gba, i went to that snowy village and tried to talk to the person whos selling items at the item shop, and the game reset itself, yes all i had to do is not to go in there, but thats not the point

Sorry to bump the thread, but it's not worth starting a new thread is it? Anyway, this sometimes happens on my real gba and Pokemon Fire Red when i try to load, can anyone help me? I start a new game, but it says the original save's still there, but it skips the New/Continue screen

EDIT: I mean it happens on my DS, not my gba.

they don't have the

thread for nothing...

and no, reviving old threads regardless is generally frowned upon, if you have a problem, create a new thread, not all problems are the same.

The help messages change to suit the situation, so check them often, please". and then i can't do anything. can anyone tell me why ?
