Ages of Empires II Setup Crashes

I just got Ages of Empires II and when I run the setup the game crashes.

I checked out the Microsoft website and the game does support Windows XP.

I already tried using the compatibility mode and it doesn't work.

Any sugguestion on getting this game running in Windows XP?

it works with xp i've run it 0_o
try re-installing ?
have you installed the expension pack as well ?
have you installed service pack 2.
if you still can't get it to work then try running age of mythology its much better :P

I can't even reinstall the game if the setup hasn't run first.

The game installs fine on Windows 98.

Update: I found out there is some sort of issue with XP.
