ASCII Movies

Ran across some cool ascii movies while on google. These movies are scenes from well known movies including matrix, spiderman, and the hulk. The movies will look a lot better if you reduce the movie's size or are away from the monitor while watching. I enjoyed the ascii versions and thought I should share the find with you guys. Hopefully these movies will entertain you for a couple of minutes.

ASCII is a text format. I never heard of movies encoded with ASCII.

I just loved the one where the 'K' shot the 'M' with the '.'. It was just classic... 'M' couldn't even hide behind the '#', the '.' whipped around the corner .

For those having a hard time seeing the movies, if you click on Movie Grosse, a drop down menu will allow you to change the size of the movies. You should set the movie size between 1-5px, but those are the ones that worked fine for me so find the size best fit for your monitor. Hopefully this will help those having trouble seeing the movies.

aalib provides ASCII output and is supported by MPlayer and a few games on Linux. So you can play any video with mplayer -vo aa and get a similar effect. I think SDL supports aalib as an output device, so you can play games in ASCII too.

A friend of mine showed that site to me a long time ago. Pretty impressive that someone could put something together on a website like that.
