Socket A - Socket 462??

Alright. These two sockets really confuse me. Is there any difference between them? I need to know cuz I'm kinda building my own stuff and I need a AMD cpu. I'm planning to use my AMD Athlon XP 2200 from my compaq system and put it in my new PC. I want to keep my compaq for my father. What I'm gonna do is, is to buy a AMD Duron for the compaq presario and use the Athlon XP for myself . Now I saw these two sockets and I was thinking Am I doing the right thing? Can anyone help me?
