I'm having problem on my PS2 controller for this adapter where I have to press the buttons really hard or else it won't register. It works perfectly fine with my PS1 controller though. I hope someone can help me with this, thanks

Have you checked if the PS2 pad is working correctly, because I have had experience with converters, and I have never encountered such unusual behaviour from it. Check and make sure the PS2 pad is the factor which is not at fault here. r2rX

i'm guessing that it's because of the PS2's analog buttons feature. perhaps your adapter isnt recognizing it until it's pressed down 100% (as opposed to somewhere along the way). just use a PS1 controller--its the same thing, sans analog (and you werent gonna be able to have analog buttons anyway)

Harakiri won't do a thing under epsxe, it doesn't support pad plugins ATM.

I have the same problem in a way. I have two PS1 controllers. One is an older analog from when they first came out and one is from the PSONE machine. The adapter is from radio shack and is the newest model they have. Anyways, the point is the adapter only recognizes the data stream from the older analog model and not the PSONE version, this is also true for the PS2 controller. Escentially all the above controllers should be the same, as they physically look the same. So what's the difference? Does anyone have a clue as to why the adapter only reads the older style controller. I use epsxe 1.60 which has no trouble with the adapter and the older style analog controller. It's just like the real deal. Also the adapter works with the really old original PS1 controllers without the analog. Last question that comes to mind...Is there a known generic driver for an usb/psx adapter that I could try?

As luck would have it, I received my super dual box in the mail today form playasia. Everything works fine. I installed the drivers here: http://www.mayflash.com/Download/SETUP345.EXE My suggestion is to use that setup file first, and THEN plug in the adapter. Otherwise, windows may not use the correct driver.

To answer 72da9's question: No there is no "generic" driver for USB adapters because they are all designed differently. As for the problem with new vs old DualShock, the most likely reason is a bad design of the adapter. It might be designed to work with the old DualShock only and fail to work with newer models because of little things like different power requirements. Another possible cause is the power available to your USB port. Try plugging the adapter directly to your computer, without going thru a USB hub of any kind.

Deamon, believe me, epsxe doesn't use harakiri pad plugin. Simply delete it and start ePSXe, go to the pad config screen and voie la! Yes, the same screen. ePSXe uses it's own internal pad configurator. If you wanna see how harakiri's config works, try psxeven, wich does support pad plugins. From the ePSXe readme: Quote:
