What the hell is a CXBX executable?

I've heard of running CD images and the such (I run iso with my ePSXe emulator), but how do you convert an XBOX game into a CBXB executable?

Actualy it is an emulator and it doesn't do nothing to the game itself. it just enables you to run an xbox game on your pc. Basically.

no, chaoscode was right. look at this quote from the cxbx site.

Quote:
Xbe to Exe Conversion

In order to give an Xbox game the chance to execute, it must first be loaded as a new process, with specific environmental requirements. This task was accomplished by analyzing the XBE (Xbox Executable) file format, and finding a suitable conversion to the PE (Windows Exe) file format. During the time this conversion was being programmed, the XBE File Format was documented.

It is also necessary to prepend crucial initialization code at the beginning of the converted executable, in order to analyze the loaded XBE file and hijack all necessary functions. This is done by appending a special section to the executable, and altering the entry point.

If you mean "How do I get the game files on a non-pirated disk to the pc?" then AIUI (I don't have an xbox) this is loosely what to do.

1. First install EvolutionX anda network adapter on your actual xbox using one of the many methods available, so you can ftp the game files or a disk image across to your pc.

2. Load either of the above then insert the game disk.

3. Wait ages while you transfer what may be several gigabytes of data over to the pc.

***There are those who are saying it is already possible to read non-pirated disks on a pc but no-one has said "I've done it."

The XBE format is not the same as a windows executable, as stated in that excerpt from the CXBX website. It is converted into Windows PE format, but then it is prepended with information in order to make executable through CXBX.

You *don't change an iso image tol xbe! The xbe file is one of several files already on the disk. What the need to do is ftp this file and any others over to the pc.

Do you have EvolutionX and the network adapter installed on your xbox though?

Thanks for sticking up for me. Im out of town and wasn't keeping up. The fact is CXBX changes the function paths to work with other versions of windows. Very complex but when its done it works and well. As for the person speaking before knowing what they are talking about. Try reading a tech manual before you reply on something you have no idea about. Normally when I say basically I meen basically.
