size of the file increases as you increase the dimensions of the image and increase the number of colors used

I make it huge so that brush stroke will be less visible when I zoom out xD
Large rez is also great for detail painting.
I usually start at 25% view then zoom in as I paint more details.
Large rez is also required for printing since prints are 300dpi

Toned down the effects a bit~

300DPI!!! When I scan I can't use more than 75 or else the JPEG will be over 400KB and I won't be able to post it here...wow...300dpi...

hmmm dpi shouldn't change your file size though XD~
Unless you set in size instead of pixel size.
dpi is for print purpose. [how many pixels in an inch while you print]

i can scan images at 600DPI, they scan as bmp though so the size can reach..... hundreds of mb.... good thing for jpg compression.

I found out that small files work better for PNG (much smaller), but large files work a lot better for JPG (50% size) [using highest quality JPG and PNG]

its not the size Fadings its the amount of colours, when lots of colours are about PNG isn't good, however taking a screenshot of this forum, saved to a better size in png, then it did in jpg. (limited colours)

Yeah, PNG is for web based images, hence it's meant for high color res.
JPEG, on the other hand, is for printing and storage purposes, hence it handles colors better.
You can't tell JPG and PNG on the web, but you can in print.
