Persona 2 crash problem

I totally love this game! It's amazing. But it crashes frequently when I am in the dungeon mode and is about to warp (?) into the battle mode. I tried 1.5.2 and it froze the program so upgraded to 1.6.0

It still crashes but not as much... and I have to terminate and retry over and over, hoping it will not crash. Sometimes I pass a stage and I am fine until next dungeon mode kicks in.

As for my PC, I have:
AMD Athlon XP 1700+ 1.46 GHz
256 Ram
nVdia GeForce 2 MX 400
Sound Blaster Live

I have run Chrono Cross, Legend of Mana and other games without a glitch before...

I believe I am running off:
scph7502.bin with P.E.Op.S. Soft Driver 1.14 for Video and Eternal SPU Plugin 1.41, which produce good enough quality visual and audio experience for me.

So, please let me know if you have experienced this problem and know how to fix it or got any advise. Thank you!

ePSXe seems to have a lot of trouble with Persona 2. I advice you to use PSXeven for that game instead - it runs almost flawlessly
