EA Sports Cricket 2004

So another cricket gmes is released after the gap of almost 2 years!

Well I bet more than 90% of the active NGemu members don't know or give a damn about Cricket (the sport, not the insect).

It is a sport played with a.........wait wait wait, I am not here to teach cricket, I am here to post my review. So if you wanna learn about cricket then go somewhere else

Graphics:

Had this been on the PS1, I would give it a 10/10 but it is not. It is on the PS2 the machine which is supposed to be tn times better and more powerfull. What we get here is a crap looking game. Ok, it is still the BEST looking CRICKET game but c'mon! Every Pakistani cricketer here looks like Sami or Youhana

A lot of improvement is needed man. The animations have become much better but other sports titles have raised this bar far higher and I want the same with cricket. Every bowler with his unique bowling action and batsmen with their unique stances should be here. I was dissapointed when I saw Shoaib bowl like Gul

6/10

Sound:

The commentary is pretty decent, but IMO more lively commentaters should be appointed instead of Benaud. Boycott or Tony Greig are my choices here...
The pitch sounds are just ok. Better than any other cricket game.

7/10

Gameplay:

If there is any reason to play this game, it is the gameplay which leaves very little to be desired specially when it comes to batting. I found the bowling to be tougher. I just loved the confidence meter, and the back foot/front foot selection is just great. However, I was having trouble hooking bouncers, just like the real stuff. You can get hit too and I love it when the batsmen fall after my bouncers hit'em on the helmet... nice accompanying animation as well.

9/10

Lastability:

It will usually take a lot of time before another cricket game is released so a cricket game should last for ever. Fortunately, Cricket 2k4 just do that. I can't seem to remember if there had been this many players, teams, stadia, tournaments in any other cricket game before it. It will last for quite long. I started it on the normal mode, which will take a little time to master and then the Hard mode......

9/10

Overall: 7.7

Glad to see another cricket game is out.
I have played all of them from old allan border cricket to the last cricket 2002.

Is Cricket 2004 ps2 exclusive ? I guess there will be a pc release just like cricket 2002. IMO Cricket 2002 was much more enjoyable on pc due to the patches and changes we were able to apply.

Now about this game, I was hoping that EA improvs the graphics quality.Take a look at fifa 2004, the players look so realistic there and I was thinking something similar for this one.(In pc version of cricket 2002 you could actually change the photos of cricketers but they still didnt looked like real them).

Sounds have always been pretty average with commentators speaking about" how nice way to get off the mark" when even a catch was dropped. So I expect something better this time.

In cricket 2002 hook was my favourite shot but looks like I will struggle for runs on this one.

I will try to play the game on my friend's ps2 and give a detailed review later.

BTW Nice review FAWAD.

I want to get my hands on NBA Live 2003/2004...they're supposed to be good.

I played EA Sports Cricket 2002 on the PS2, and it was....okay. Yet to play 2004.

It is out on the PC as well but you'll be dissappointed with the graphics.
I have learnt to hook now. You have to play quite early....
And commentary is pretty much the same.
As I said before, only the gameplay will interest you. Other things are just average...

Just got the pc version. Graphics are definitely a bit disappointing but gameplay is quite good. IMO this is definitely the best cricket game until now. Players are not that much detailed but atleast they behave more like cricket players and make less dumb moves.
