why does GStaris cant run the BIOS?

you know, to tell you the truth, you shouldnt be worried about it. even if it does, you will not get over 10 FPS anyway. there's not really any point of getting it to run right now other than to watch it.

and i think gstaris does run the bios, probably something wrong with your settings. but, ive seen your other posts, you are making a huge deal out of PS2 emulation and it's still in it's infancy. so calm down!

The current version of gstaris doesn't work. (I haven't noticed any new version).

The authors said that it was an experimental version.

Gstaris last update was before even pcsx2 was running bios.. So the author didn't have a chance to fix the bios with gstaris.. Maybe if he work on that again one day..

Yeah, GStaris hasn't been updated in a long while, but who cares about it anyway. We should all be bugging asadr to release GSMax!

I think we didn,t need to run the bios directly using RUN --> Execute , but their is another way to run it using FILE --> Run CD instead and it will use bios instructions to run your game with bios rather than HLE Bios using GStaris and it works with me ; any way this will not prevent the idea that we need another OPenGL Plugin !!!

if you want to run the bios, you should use run->execute.
if you want to run a cd/dvd/image, you should use File->Run CD.

File -->Run CD refers to how do you run your image depending on used Bios , for Example :

1) use HLE Bios --> Run CD using HLE Bios Mode
2) scph10000 Bios (Japanesse one) --> Run CD using scph10000 Bios instructions
3) scph39001 Bios (usa one) --> Run CD using scph39001 Bios instructions

the type of bios you choice --> the type of Run CD mode will be applied (see that in ps2 output)

I'm not sure if you understand what it does....

If you are using HLE bios, when you load an elf or run a cd, the system calls are detected and executed in HLE mode (executed using native x86 code).
But when you are using a real bios, the emulator LOADS the bios into the emulated memory and then, the bios executes the syscalls itself, using it's own ps2 code (so the emu has to interpret/recompile that code and makes all the execution slower, but most times more compatible).

I understand what you said ;i didn,t read the source code for that yet ; i was surprised in first like you ; but it works ; now you does not need to select Run--> Execute to run bios first thein run your game ; but instead i select my bios as every one is did then i choice File --> Run CD instead of Run-->Execute and this is much faster cause you does not need to wait untill loading bios to be completed as ps2 is doing ;For Example Look in my shots below ; i use "Resident evil code Veronica " game which has custom modules so i must run it in bios mode rather than HLE and it Loads Ok using RunCd :

I DO know that using "run cd" executes directly the game, this is working that way since the "run cd" option exists.

I know that also, But i think you don,t know that it runs depending on type of bios used; or you misunderstanded me , So i think their is no problem now to use GStaris Plugin with Bios since both ways will lead you to test your games as you need , So their no need for repeatedly asked question " Is Gstaris doesn,t work with Bios ?" .

all i want to say is : Run-->Execute == File-->Run CD Except That bios introduction will not Be shown ; and this is as i think ; may be RIGHT ... may be WRONG .......
Since GStaris Crashes with Bios Introduction Then use File--> Run CD instead .

It doesn't matter what bios file you have selected because the emu doesn't care about the bios contents. It just loads and executes.

If you select Execute, then the emu loads the bios and executes it, and if you select "Run CD", then it loads the bios, but executes the game directly.

If you have selected the HLE bios and you try to execute it, the emu will show an error message.

Exactly .... , So their is no problem when testing games with that plugin using Bios cause all what you need from bios is applied as your game need it .
