Actually the ones you see on the top shelf are the surround speakers but I have no walls around me to mount them too! The front speakers are almost hidden by my monitor and the sub is behind the rubbish bag to the right of my desk

As far as handhelds go, well, I get the Nintendo one.

place your computer in such a place so that the monitor is in the center and the front speakers are at each corner of the same wall
the rear speakers can be at your side or just behind.
Use this guide to understand better

I am actually looking for some type of stand that I can mount the rear speakers to cause there are no walls around me to do it now and no room anywhere else to put my pc so moving the pc to a better spot is not an option!

I know for one it would make a massive difference when watching Blu-ray's!

I regards to knowing where to mount them, I used to work for a department store as an in home installer of High end Video/Audio equipment so my main issue is that I am fussy as to how it should be done but without a couple of rear stands that can be dragged out when needed I am stuck for now!

If its a room, the speakers can be placed on any side wall, no matter how far the wall may be. Just try it.

I've never been a fan of Creative myself.

If I had more money at the time, and didn't buy the Logitechs, I'd definitely would've gone Bose. Great speakers, even if they don't look it.

Its a 2 story townhouse!

The top floor has small rooms, but the bottom floor is all one room (Combo lounge room/kitchen/Dining Room!)

you are absolutely right, those creative speakers are just good for low frequency and hi but lack the necessary mid range.
However the Philips speakers that I have are full range speakers with a very good mid range frequency response.

Wow ...never seen one of those before....the only thing I have seen which is remotely close is a thing I got as a kid with with 9 square tiles on it I think it was with each side having a slightly altered image of a clown on it and you have to match up everything so every clown fits together as it should.
