Should there be a ban on topics related to religion?

I've noticed alot of religion topics popping up. Has anyone noticed that no one ever gets anywhere in these topics? I think it would be beneficial for all if there were a ban on this topic. What does everyone else think?

Re: Should there be a ban on topics related to religion?

It doesn't matter much to me as I don't post in those topics anyways. If you don't like the topic, stay away from it. Simple... at least for me it is.

Re: Should there be a ban on topics related to religion?

Well, IMHO I think that, as long as they dont pop up very often, there shouldnt really be a problem with it. Moreover where there are serious debaters on both sides. But i accept that after a while, it can become kinda repetitive. But once again, if they only appear, say, each 6 months, it shouldnt be a great deal

I feel that it is wrong if a thread is talking about a religion people hate (alot) even though it never happens. But i really think a ban might be a bit too offensive, so i voted no

Banning topics that aren't illegal per nature wouldn't be right... the purpose of a forum is the freedom of speech, if you don't like the debates about religion for whatever reason that crosses your mind just don't enter the thread...
Things tend to get out of control on a regular basis on such discussions then again, banning them seems out of place to me...

Re: Should there be a ban on topics related to religion?

Funny thing, the last time I opened a poll on this very same subject I was greeted with more "yes" than "no".

There's no reason to ban such topics. Although it would be nice if such topics were kept clean of flames. Even though it would be impossible.

Re: Should there be a ban on topics related to religion?

If these types of threads do appear, people should refrain from disliking another's religious preference. For example, a Christian shouldn't start attacking a Muslim and vise versa. As long as we don't get at each other's throats, I dont really see a problem with these types of threads. And its like Esturk said, if you don't like the topic, then just avoid it.

I dont care. I voted no. I dont think there should be a ban on anything but what is already like porn and roms etc ... It's just people should know they go no where and just complicate things. Anotherwords: Alot of posts that mean nothing.

Well the big issue nowadays in regards to religious discussions is the arguments between believers and atheists

Re: Should there be a ban on topics related to religion?

you can't start banning topics you don't like, because one thing will lead to another and everything will be banned.
so, i would vote no. but i won't because i'm lazy. but just imagine i did.

Re: Should there be a ban on topics related to religion?

If you dont want to see it, then dont take a look at it. If the topic goes out of control, then we will take appropriate measures, otherwise, I dont believe in banning topics myself, unless they discuss illegal subjects ( ie : warez )

Yours,

If there get to be a lot, make a "Philisophical Discussion" forum. No need to ban such discussions.

It shouldnt be banned, just closed if it gets into a flame fest. Otherwise no, someone may gain some knowledge from the discussion.

That's right. Like with any thread, you don't have to post or get involved if you don't want to. So basically I see no reason to ban such a thread, I have now voted No.

Elly, those threads are already banned and have been banned since Ngemu began.

I believe all you can do is delete or lock banned topics.

Re: Should there be a ban on topics related to religion?

Isn't this a gaming forum and if it relates to game i think it should be allowed to talk about it. Com'on Xenogears has alot religious things about it and i think its ok to talk about. But like others say if you dont want to hear about it dont read it.

Re: Should there be a ban on topics related to religion?

I voted no, for the obvious reasons, of course. I agree that if you don't like it then don't read it. And if and only if, it gets completely out of control i.e. flames and the like, then that particular thread should be closed. Basically simple, eh? And even if it doesn't relate to games at all, I don't think it matters. This is an off-topic, open discussion forum, isn't it? Fun fun for e v e r y o n e~!
