wild arms 2

Only two other topics exists on this game, and one appears to have been outdated since the new emulator version fixes the modchip problem, and the other isn't relevant. The intro movie is horribly choppy, plummets the game from 59.9fps straight into oblivion, it can take ten seconds of pounding the escape button to hit a frame that allows me to quit emulating. I'm using the cd version and have tried all three of pete's 1.58 video on the lowest settings possible and none seem to get any further. I can get in the 400fps without 'fps limit' everywhere up to the sunset movie, so I'm assuming it's a problem with the movie itself. I've tried with sound off, so I'm going with a graphics problem, any suggestions?

Well a few bits of Information might help:

What hardware and OS are you running this on?
(CPU and video card will help quite a bit)
What plugins are you using?
What version of ePSXe are you using?
What is your GPU plugin settings?

If you are using Pete's there is a little button you can click on the config screan and it will copy it to the clip board and you can paste it in your message here.

Pete's works fine with the following settings with WA 2 on both my machines:
Plugin: Pete's D3D Driver 1.1.73

Resolution/Color:
- 1024x768 Window mode

Textures:

- Hi-Res textures: 2
- VRam size: 0 MBytes

Framerate:

- FPS limit: Auto

Compatibility:
- Offscreen drawing: 3
- Framebuffer texture: 2
- Framebuffer access: 3

Misc:
- Scanlines: off [0]
- Unfiltered FB: off

Re: wild arms 2

I've tried all three of pete's v.1.74 gpu's with lowest to highest possible settings, I'm pretty sure its just the disc is scratched at this point, I just skipped the intro movie and I'm proceeding with no problems(up to all three of them meeting up in jail). I dont believe any of the wild arms had any movies past the intro so I'm fine. I can just pop it in the playstation for that movie, so it's not worth finding another cd-rom plugin or something. However, I am curious about backup software of a cd though in case I have a problem like this again, for a game like ff7 where skipping movies isn't a choice. I've read that some people made an 'iso?' of their scratched disk, for other games, and it worked just fine. The forum rules mention no iso discussion though, so I'm a little confused on the rules, so if anyone could also explain what is and isn't illegal about iso's it would be great. Thanks in advance.

Re: wild arms 2

you can talk about an iso, as long as it's to make a copy of an original disc you legally own. a few tips: Update to the most recent gpu drivers, do try to make the iso, and just to let you know, there are cinema's at the end of both disc's.

Re: wild arms 2

Thanks Jldnr77, I found a topic for aldostool, if I can't just skip the movie at the end of the disc I will try making an iso. 1.74's are the most recent gpu's apart from the 2.2 version for 64mb cards. I either updated them from my first post as 1.58, or was really tired when I wrote it .

Smile Re: wild arms 2

Might I also inquire as to what PSX bios you're using? Wild Arms 2 runs best w/the 7502 bios. In fact, in some cases, it will not run at all without the 7502 present. So I would check as to what bios you are using and if it isn't the 7502, then I would suggest giving the 7502 a try.
BTW, the 7502 bios is recommended by the authors, themselves, as being the most compatable.
sincerely,
sx/amiga
