Computer Problems.....

Ok, tell me this. I looked at a profile for someone with these computer specs:

AMD Atholon XP: 1400 MHZ
RAM 256 SD
Geforce3 TI 500
FSB: 133 MHZ
Windows 98

3D Mark2001 SE Score: 7586

My specs:

Pentium 4: 1500 MHZ
RAM 768 SD
Radeon 9500np
FSB: 166 MHZ
Windows XP

3D Mark2001 SE Score: 7482

Now tell me this, WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE!
I don't understand, also my opengl plugins for epsxe are kinda screwy and my d3d is kinda slow as well as peops soft gpu is kinda slow. Is there something that I'm missing. Cuz all of my pc games run great....so far my most intense game right now is Warcraft III. So um....does anybody have any kind of idea what could be wrong or what I could check to see if I can change anything to fix this cuz I know that it should be higher than that......so does anybody have any ideas? Plz help me.

Oh and I'm back....only while ii'm at school...cuz my internet is gone

Valcrist's back ^___^
It's probably your current drivers or the settings you are using.
OR maybe it's that damn SDram.

Re: Computer Problems.....

1.5gh z p4's are absolutly crap. even the p3's were outbenching them.

anyway yes, if you upgrade either the cpu or motherboard, then you need to upgrade the other as well the 1.5ghz pf is a socket 423 cpu and they have long been discontinued.

You mean SDR SDRAM.
DDR is still SDRAM.

SDR = Single Data Rate
DDR = Double Data Rate
SDRAM = Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory

Re: Computer Problems.....

Isnt that a willington pentium 4 1.5 Ghz? I believe Only Willington cores made the odd numbers (1.5 1.7 1.9 ect)

If thats a Willington Pentium 4. Your numbers are "right" where they should be. Unfortunately for you. The Willington Pentium 4 isnt That fast compared tyo the Athlon XP or Northwood Pentium 4s.

Get two 512mb DDR400 from crucial or corsair, you'll benefit from the lifetime warranty they have...

AMD Atholon XP: 1400 MHZ
Pentium 4: 1500 MHZ

A Pentium 4 doesn't run nearly as fast as an Athlon at the same clock speed. Even though yours is clocked 100 Mhz more it's actually a lot slower. The Athlon XP 1400 Mhz is anywhere from 20% - 30% faster than your processor. I assume you have a Willamette from the clock speed, which makes thing worse. In short, your CPU is your primary bottleneck.

RAM 256 SD
RAM 768 SD

You're both using SDRAM. Although you have a lot more it won't make much of a difference in 3DMark2K1. The Pentium 4 suffers horribly with SDRAM (more than the Athlon). Getting DDR SDRAM or RDRAM would boost your score significantly. This would be your secondary bottleneck.

Geforce3 TI 500
Radeon 9500np

Your R9500 is faster than the GF3 but any advantages you have here is nullified by your CPU and RAM.

FSB: 133 MHZ
FSB: 166 MHZ

The Pentium 4 Willamette runs at 100 Mhz FSB, which is what I suspect you have. Even Northwoods at low clock speeds use a 100 Mhz FSB.

That would be an awesome upgrade for your system. If you're getting the P4 2.4C you might want to consider overclocking. Most P4s of that speed and model overclock very well; anywhere from 2.8 to 3.3 Ghz on stock air cooling. Free performance at absolutely no additional costs.
