Question Pete's scanline mode.

I was wondering what this option actually does in terms of performance. I know it makes my monitor look like a TV, but since it sort of degrades visual quality, I want to know if it can improve performance?

from what i understand, it does help performance in the soft plugin since it only needs to draw half the lines on the screen, but it doesnt really do much for the 3d plugins

It would be nice if there were another option on the scanline mode making it 50% scanlines, or making it a little brighter. Because in Resident Evil games it gets quite dark in some place where I barely can't see.
