?! That's wierd considering that a USB device gets its power from the computer ... are you sure it's shutting down 100%?

You're probably in hibernation/standby mode. Make sure to completely turn off.

Re: IntelliMouse Optical light!!!

this is not a problem. i repeat NOT A PROBLEM. if it's wireless, obviously its being powered by batteries. thus, if you leave the batteries in, it will still be on.

this is not a problem. a friend of mine had a wireless intellimouse which he kept in his backpack all the time (when he transported stuff). on recharable batteries his mouse lasted about a month.

just get rechargeable batteries so you dont have to worry.

Re: IntelliMouse Optical light!!!

that is really weird, does it have batteries in it?

because, obviously, if its USB with no batteries its powered by the computer...and if the computer is off USB cant work....

Re: IntelliMouse Optical light!!!

The only thing I can think of is wake on usb. I'm not sure if that even exists, but if it does I would think it would be like wake on lan which keeps your network connection alive even when you shutdown.

I have connected IntelliMouse Optical through PS/2 with an USB -> PS/2 adapter. This doesnīt happened to me when I had Windows 98 SE installed. Should I connect mouse to USB or itīs better PS/2?

Re: IntelliMouse Optical light!!!

neither port has an advantage over the other. my mouse light also doesnt turn off when it shuts down, nor does the blue light on my usb gamepad. the only way the mouse light will go off is when power to the computer is cut

Re: IntelliMouse Optical light!!!

i would say the advantage is with PS/2, because it saves you room for an extra USB port.....

but if you have more than enough USB ports...it doesnt matter at all

Re: IntelliMouse Optical light!!!

well i dont think there's a problem with your mouse being on all the time. it's not like it sucks up enough power to significantly change your electricity bill or kill your PSU
