Angry MPAA/RIAA in your classrooms

Studios Moving to Block Piracy of Films Online

Quote:
Also, as early as next month the industry will begin promoting a "stealing is bad" message in schools, teaming up with Junior Achievement on an hourlong class for fifth through ninth graders on the history of copyright law and the evils of online file sharing. The effort includes games like Starving Artist, in which students pretend to be musicians whose work is downloaded free from the Internet, and a crossword puzzle called Surfing for Trouble.

In the role-playing activity Starving Artist, for example, groups of students are encouraged to come up with an idea for a musical act, write lyrics and design a CD cover only to be told by a volunteer teacher their work can be downloaded free. According to the lesson, the volunteer would then "ask them how they felt when they realized that their work was stolen and that they would not get anything for their efforts."
Personally this type of corporate politics and propaganda should be kept out of the classrooms.

This is scary that corporations have the power to blatantly control the minds of children to see only one side of the issue.

What if a student disagrees with the industry's views? Does it mean he will get detention?

I would buy them if it was from akira toriyama, or from the original clamp or gainax group. But i dont want to feed some money hungry retailers companies. I want to feed the artists, not the burocracy between them and the final customer

holy guackamoly (sp?) man this is retarded, it reminds me so much of the debeers "buy a diamond to get engaged" propaganda campaign... the fact is that the artist usually wont have money because of the fees they have to pay to get the songs made, and then the percent they have to pay the riaa... after all taxes and fees they make... what... a dime a cd?

i think i got another slogan...
RIAA, We Starve The Artists
