epsxe on linux / wine / winex

okay so i tried to get epsxe to work on linux
that worked quiet well and all but i just couldnt a second pad to work (if anybody has info on how to do that id really appreciate it)

thats when i read that epsxe runs better on wine/winex anyway
tried that and put epsxe on wine
on wine i couldnt find my cdrom (and i pretty much need that since i dont have that much hd space)

thats when i got myself winex
cdrom worked like a charm and everything just runs great
but then i neither couldnt set my keys nor could i get a real pad to work

so what i would like to have now are a few hints on make one of the three ways work with cdrom and pad

any help is appreciated

ANd I'm not familiar with WineX, but wine in general is very buggy. And only the games that WineX currently supports should be played

sorry dont see how that thread could help me

my joypads are properly configed (catable and useable under zsnes/mame)
one joypad works correctly - the problem is the second one (which doesnt work at all)
i already tried to switch them to make sure its no joypad fault
