56k problem

hi guys

there's been a problem going with me for a couple of days. i m using 56k connection.the problem is that when i download anything with the connection for more than 30 min or sometimes more than 1 or 2 hours, the download speed falls gradually.when i start downloading its speed is round about 5 k than a while it falls up to 1k or even 0.5k depending on how long it is used.and than it will download everything from anywhere at this slow speed.than i have to restart my computer and connect again to get 5k speed.

here r the steps i have taken

i have changed the telephone line.but no progress.i guess my line is ok because whenever i connect, the modem connects at 52000bps everytime.

secondly i have tried to change the computer.i used my second system to download but the same problem.

i guess there could be a problem with my ISP.but so far i have changed several ISP'x but the same problem.

what could possibly be wrong??????/

Re: 56k problem

hm, im not sure how to solve your problem, but try using a dl manager such as getright and try segmented downloading, im not sure if at your speed it will help *much* but maybe it'll atleast help a bit, im sorry that i cant help much since i use cable internet and dont know much about 56Ks, usually for me the same hing happens except on a much higher scale, eg start at 100, fall to 8, but thats usually because when you begin a transfer it takes a bit for the upload rate of the host to even itself out

Either that or your phone line might have a glitch.

Re: 56k problem

Have the phone company come down to your house and test the line for noise.

Also, make sure you have the latest drivers for your modem.
You could also try tweaking your MTU and RWIN settings.

If your paying for 56k I also suggest switchig to broadband. For say 20$ more you'll have blazing fast downloads. And with the time you save you can work an extra 3 shifts at minimum wage job a month to pay the extra $20.

I am sure it's like that were you live , but there are still places in the world where broadband is much more expensive, though i'm nt sure were neversurrender is from.

Argh, this thread is over one year old, and you revived it.
The guy who opened the thread is probably dead or has already solved his problem

Please try not to revive such ancient threads...
